Gutted over todays results. However on my end of season predictor the only ones that were not as anticpated were stoke and sunderland as I had them for draws.
As it stands I still have us staying up in a close run thing with villa and the horsepunchers so not getting too despondent.
Don’t think we will get anything against Spurs, more so that bale, lennon and defoe are now back fit. However I think we’ll pick up three points at west brom and at home to swansea, but nothing at arsenal. In the meantime think villa will collect 3 against sunderland and 2 points from norwich and chelsea and the horsepunchers only one at qpr between now and last game against arsenal in which i have em down for a draw. We beat villa therefore on last day we’ll stay up by a point!
We’re latics we rarely do things easy, we seem to strive in face of adversity so no need to throw in the towel just yet.
I had us winning yesterday so was gutted with the result yesterday.Im sorry to say this but next Saturday is a must win game and defeat would mean that we would be relying on other results after that.
if we go down it is down to our horrendous home form and inability to pick up draws like dullards such as Norwich and Stoke but that is not our way as we like to try and entertain.
However we probably the have the luckiest owner in the world so I am not giving up yet and i wouldn’t bet against us beating Tottenham.
Its nothing to do with luck. Over a season that will always even itself out.
It’s all to do with quality, or lack of it, and the managers mind numbingly boring tactics.

Clubs get instances of good luck and bad luck, but there is no law to say that they must even themselves out over a season. It’s obvious that they don’t.
If you want to see mind numbingly boring tactics, you should watch West Ham. Yes, they are moderately successful, but Allardyce has assembled a team of skilled and expensive players to carry them out. It’s a criminal waste of football talent.
You are correct to say that it is all to do with quality – and Martinez makes the most of the modest resources at his disposal. Put van Persie into the team and the results will radically improve – at a cost of £24 million.
Nothing to do with luck.Had our share recently, macmanaman non- sending off and handball goal against newcastle. As for Qpr how were we unlucky there ? Played against 10 men for 2/3rds of the game and failed to make it count. There will be a few twists yet so its nowhere near over but I have a horrible feeling those toe rags down the road might fail to put Villa away tonight.I agree with previous poster that its a win only Saturday the time for expecting other results to go our way well and truly over as proved this weekend.

With the title to win at home, there is not a chance that United will fail to win tonight. 1/5 they are – the bookies are not often wrong.
I think if we keep Villa in our sights we until the last day, I think we will do them at home. Not sure why the Tottenham game is suddenly a must win game. What’s wrong with the Swansea and West Brom games?
That said, we have made it far harder for ourselves than it needed to be
We have 31 points from 33 games, having just played 4 away games on the bounce, 3 in London, 3 in 7 days, 1 vs the Champions and 1 vs a team that has only lost 4 league games at home all season. Something had to give.
Last season we were in exactly the same position – 31 from 33 – having narrowly lost to Chelsea and then just beaten Utd.
Two seasons ago we had 31 from 32 games.
Admittedly there were more teams still in the mix at those stages, but actually with just one relegation place to avoid and (theoretically) only 1 other team to monitor, it does simplify things somewhat.
As Griff says, as long as our worst case is that on the last day of the season it’s still in our own hands then that’s all we can ask for.
And as someone else posted elsewhere – a winner takes all game at home vs Villa on the last day of the season? I’ll take that now.
Our next game has to be a win only, can’t rely on getting out by losing against Spurs as the West Brom /Swansea are no givens !!
Of course they aren’t givens. No game is. I still fail to see why the Spurs game is a must win. It would be a nice one to win, admittedly. But must win? I’m probably just failing to see the Darkside logic ;)
It won’t be a must win for BOTH teams unless we are both on equal points and the same goal difference.
If we are on the same points and a better goal average we only need to draw. If we are on the same points and a worse goal average Villa only need to draw. If we are one, two or three points in front, and a better goal average, we only need to draw or if 3 points in front, lose, providing the margin of a defeat doesn’t wipe out the goal difference.
So whatever happens it’s very likely that only one team will need to win providing either team isn’t more than 3 points adrift.
Just think you are looking to be controversial :silly:
You thinking? Do me a favour, Tony.
I’m having a very sensible discussion with Mr Brownbill here. We don’t actually have to agree, or do you still not get what a forum is all about? Other than labelling him a darksider, there have been no insuilts or name calling going on. So, if – as I suspect – you have nothing intelligent to add, why don’t you go and play with some crayons?
