Lets be honest today, we beat a very average team in Sunderland. We should have expected to win as they cannot be judged on the couple of lucky wins they have had at home and should be judged on the season previous and also the away form that is shocking. They were clueless today and Bruce had no idea at some points in the game. He changed his tactics and the players were looking at him with no idea where they should be playing. I for one was amused.
The crowd again were pathetic, no atmosphere from anywhere which is getting very disapointing as the team do need us.
To bounce back from 9-1 and to dig in and get the 3 points was a credit to the staff and players who did us as fans proud today.
Our midfield was poor but Hugo (off day) was still looking dangerous especially when switched to his position. N Zogbia class act and was a different class all day. Bramble looks like his confidence is going again I just hope someone has the shoulder for him like Bruce did as he is our rock at the back.
Gomez has had enough chances it is time for him to go back to championship football. Scotland is still an option but should be in plan B or C off the bench and not in our strongest line up.
i thought hugo was a threat all day. The centre half (Dawson??) didn’t put a foot wromg until hugo went up top , then had a nightmare. scotland just doesn’t give defenders a hard time.
As for the midfield – 1st half we were 10 yards at least away from them. Diame had an absolute shocker and Thomas tried hard without actually doing anything (though his “shot” did remind me of Ian Kilford). They both played really deep most of the game. 1 of them at least just stood in front of the 2 c. halves.
We were / are a much better side with charlie on the left and hugo up top, We all know that gomez aint the answer on the right though, so surely koumas / sinclair / Mccarthy (sp) could have a decent run in the side ??
1 thing is obvious, no more 4-4-2 for us with bob at the helm
if atmosphere is one man banging a drum and 20 people singing it was electric. 5000 away fans singing together is more my idea of electric. The JJB was poor again today and after recent away trips to Portsmouth and Spurs (where we had little to shout about) I am begining to think we are vocally the worst supporters in the league. Everton was also no atmosphere from the 450 away supporters and the Burnley game was average. Villa was ok but we were good in every department that day. Forums may not tell the true storey
As for Hugo being a thret I must have watched a different game as he was not impressive at all unil he went upfront.

What a fool you must of been int pub then as this morning my throat is sore through none stop singing from the ES2 and ES3 area or did you sit in a corparate box munching the prawn sandwiches
I was singing all match non stop BUT was next to the drummer where everybody was singing. When I looked around if I’m honest i didnt actually see any other parts of the stadium singing which disappointed me. I love getting up and vocally showing my support for the lads (and abuse towards their manager as yesterday went  ) and think the rest of the fansd should too.
Stmatts Dawson didn’t put a foot wrong until Hugo went up front, but it wasn’t just because Hugo played well (even though he did play well) it was because like me, and others around me, said… I bet its like a dream playing against Scotland. He never poses a threat whatsoever. Gomez did not do anything wrong against Sunderland and to critisice him on todays game alone is unfair. N’zogbia is a different class to what we are used to having at wigan. Even on the right im going to say that he is better than Valencia.
He is only 12 yon mon pity he can use a computer though   [/quote]
Wish you would just do 1.
And yes Callmeishmeil… I think he is, He’s far more of a threat put it that way, In Valencia’s last season I think his stats were… Assists 3, goals 1 or 2. Not very good for an attacking right winger, bet N’zogbia’s are better than that. Also was not disappointed in the least when Valencia went and think UTD wasted their money
Hey there was at least 2 of us in Es3 singing our heads of and waving Tesco bags when we started to sing ‘one nil to the Tesco boys’ didn’t see anyone else though waving theirs!
A few Tesco bags around East Stand Central, as well.
I heard the song ‘T-E-S-C-O’ getting sung, copying that ‘D-I-S-C-O’ song, lol!
I might write a letter of apology to Eric Black this week, saying how sorry I am that Wigan Athletic just happened to beat his “Real football club”, as he put it the other day.
