I thought we played alright today and for most of it we were the best side, but!!!! Why when we seem to have teams on the ropes do we not go for it and throw caution to the wind. Ok sometimes we may get caught out but then again we may actually win some and I think today we would have won.
It does not make sense to play 45 passes across the back four when your playing one of our rivals at home and the scores are level when 3 points would have been priceless. :? :? :?
4 December 2010 at 11:12 pm #52521Agree with that and, for the record, the manager was actually urging to them to be a bit more direct. The keeper was the biggest culprit for me, especially late in the say
4 December 2010 at 11:45 pm #52525The keeper was the biggest culprit for meDon’t be saying that we’re wanting £5 million out of you cum January.
5 December 2010 at 12:05 am #52528When they got the 1st, I was already feeling as it would be Blackpool all over again, but the courage and passion shown today was much much better.
I know almost every Latics fan would like Bobby to succeed as manager of Wigan Atheltic and when the going gets tough, the fans get going. Stoke are now unbeaten in 5 – so getting a point isn’t that much of a diserpoitment for me to be honest. :geek:
Where I sit, the people above me in WS3 (row Y upwards !) are so negative. In injury time they were all calling for Alcey’s head when he didn’t wack the ball up for Boselli to compete for.
I think Di Santo and McManaman should of been brought on for Watson and Boselli late on – but that’s just me :P
Come on then kids, lets pile in to Everton next week and battle out our 1st win their for 5 years. :)

Standish, I take back what you said about thickness
5 December 2010 at 12:55 am #52544Decent display today got to agree with Hindley blue + Stepton01 maybe got 3pts if bobby had really gone for it.
However looking at this seasons results there does seem to be a pattern of 2 poor games followed by 1 good one,Need to be more Consistent Bobby! :?5 December 2010 at 1:34 am #52549When they got the 1st, I was already feeling as it would be Blackpool all over again, but the courage and passion shown today was much much better.

I saw a completely different Wigan side today, not much passing along the back and a hell of a lot more “hoofs” up field.

(or is it just me and my 2:1 in psy….you know the rest) ;)
5 December 2010 at 3:39 am #52576One or two times we passed it around at the back and almost ended up in trouble. Seems Alcaraz (a player I like btw) hasn’t learned his lesson from the Mcarthy error as he played pretty much the same ball to Watson. Maybe he just doesn’t like gingers.
5 December 2010 at 3:45 am #52582Mr Ironing Board – welcome back.
£5m a bit steep, but whatever it takes to take him off your hands. The lad’s a good ‘un

Apparently it’s only £3mil for …believe this or not…Tomasz Kuszczak.
Ali……good keeper….we have aspirations of better.
Welcome back George… ;)
5 December 2010 at 2:29 pm #52593I think Di Santo and McManaman should of been brought on for Watson and Boselli late on – but that’s just me :PI dont think you can bring on a player who is not even on the bench
5 December 2010 at 2:52 pm #52598re: the goalie
Al Habsi has only had one decent stretch in the Bolton side, he played the last 10 matches of the 2007/08 season because Jaaskalainen was injured. The first match of that run was the 0-1 defeat at Wigan a few days after losing at Sporting Lisbon. The goal was a high ball into the box which should have been dealt with.
When I logged on last night I noticed Bigroy was also on.Bigroy will remember the end of that season. With 5 games left Bolton were 6 points behind Reading and after winning the first match faced away games at Middlesbrough and Tottenham.Bigroy was keen to offer his opinions on the Bolton rivals site about the relegation battle at that time and felt Bolton had to take 4 points from the Riverside and White Hart Lane to have a realistic chance of surviving because the last match was away at Chelsea.
Thanks to magnificent goal keeping in the first half at Boro, Bolton scraped a 1-0 win up there and followed that up with a point at Tottenham again thanks to Al Habsi.A home win and a clean sheet against Sunderland was then enough to keep us up.Jaaskalainen was fit again at the start of the following season and Al Habsi hasn’t got a look in apart from the odd cup tie here and there.I don’t agree with that and think Al Habsi is Jaakalainen’s equal but at the end of the day Bolton have had 4 managers who have had more faith in the Finn and none who rated Al Habsi more.
