I havent bought the paper but have just seen a snippet on sky sports news teletext that martinez is keen on becoming spurs manager as there are problems with a new contract for redknapp. Has anyone else seen this, knows anything about it or is it just papers stirring things again.

There’s speculation about that Redknapp is set to become the new Chelsea boss.3 June 2012 at 3:03 pm #88664I havent bought the paper but have just seen a snippet on sky sports news teletext that martinez is keen on becoming spurs manager as there are problems with a new contract for redknapp. Has anyone else seen this, knows anything about it or is it just papers stirring things again.

There’s speculation about that Redknapp is set to become the new Chelsea boss.[/quote]As things stand, Redknapp, I believe, has 12months to run on his current contract (2012/13).
Talk of revised (extended) contract, following his failure to secure England job …nothing has yet materialised (Levy reluctance after poor finish to season – missed Champions League ?).
If Redknapp believes no extension will be forthcoming (talk of Spurs interest in Rodgers some weeks back), then he may well bugger off to Chelsea (make himself a few legitimate ££, Champions League, etc…), knowing he may well be a mere 12m interim to Guardiola.
Wenger, incidentally, has 2 years to run on his before retirement, should Roberto prefer the beautiful game, prospects, and structure ( B) ) of Arsenal to that of Spurs.
3 June 2012 at 10:44 pm #88686What a daft story!!!
He may be keen on the job but im afraid he hasnt a cat in hells chance of landing it or other jobs for that matter at the present time.
Even if old twitch decides to sling off to the middle east Spurs fans will scream blue murder (just like the scousers did) if his name is even mentioned. He would get no time to do the job his way so he may as well stay here and build up his growing reputation.
He has much more to prove and the early part of next season will show if his young team has matured and his 3 year masterplan has worked.
No club is going to chance it with him until he gets Latics into the top 10 and avoids another relegation battle.3 June 2012 at 11:30 pm #88694I think bobby has taken a calculated gamble in staying with the Latics.
If he takes us to the next level, top 10, then he is very, very hot property not just in England, but across Europe and other continents. The pressure is really on him next season, but he has already shown big style how he deals with pressure. goodpost
