    Tomorrow never comes !

    It’ll be just like Yesterday.
Just can’t see a positive outcome from the Bahrain betrayal.
Early Bird deadline will come and go;so we will be forced to show our dissatisfaction by withholding our ST renewals.
The longer this goes on, the EFL will be stacking up the points deduction towards our extinction.

I just hope they save any bad news for another day and don’t release it on the 10th anniversary of the greatest day in this clubs history,

Now that would be rubbing salt in the wounds

Yes, there were all sorts of wicked rumours doing the rounds last night around Administration and even worse, Pollard buying the ground.

Pollard can’t afford to run the ground. If he could, he would have got his vulturing hands on it 3 years ago.

Administration? Sadly yes that’s coming very soon I fear. It’s clear if Al Jasmi has pulled the plug that the club cannot pay it’s day to day running costs and the coffers are empty. The Directors have legal obligations under the Companies Act and will have to act very soon in the absence of further investment.

      Happy 10th Anniversary everyone…

The only half a rumour I’ve heard is, the money they were expecting from liquidating assets is not there right now hence another missed wages occured.

Whether its due to an unforeseen holdup or the sale of a so called property fell through or lawyer delays just like when you buy/sell a property I just don’t know but that’s what I’ve just heard, money from liquidating assest is not in Phoneix 2021’s bank account hence wages did not get paid as promised.

I heard our owners are desperate to get to July were the wage bill will dramatically drop making the whole situation financially more manageable but this 5th non payment is right now creating a Tsunami of financial trouble for us far greater than you can imagine.

If the above just happens to be true and it’s down to delays the surely they should put their own in as a loan or borrow on assessts short term. This has to be better than going bump or getting kicked out the League, what are they thinking ???.
Again mines no more than half rumour, who knows, we could be lining up to Daisy hill in a month or signing Neymar

I think the former might be closer to the truth

Yes, there were all sorts of wicked rumours doing the rounds last night around Administration and even worse, Ian Leneghan buying the ground.

Is that such a bad thing? The ground is the item that costs a lot to run and generates no profit. £55K a game seems the going rate, which must surely be a better option than whatever the owners are spending on stadium costs.

If he (or even a 3rd party) did buy the ground, it might be the thing that keeps the club afloat. No rent to pay until August and no upkeep costs. The proceeds and the trickle of advance Season ticket money might just be enough to pay the wages until August.

Let’s get this straight Mutty, it’s not the ground that is the problem it’s the astronomical player wages. Every club has to have a stadium to play in with the associated costs,we are very proud to be the owners of the stadium. I personally would prefer it if the Rugby moved out ,we could then utilise the stadium for concerts etc just like St Helens are doing. After all,the Rugby have made things as difficult as possible by encouraging fans to use the Robin Park Arena on match days deliberately minimising any revenue ,they have squabbled over a very reasonable rent and the bottom line is they resent the fact the football team own the stadium ,a stadium the Rugby were never supposed to play in in the first place.
I know you would love it if the Warriors took control of the stadium but Latics fans have to make sure that never happens. If it ever does I personally would never step inside it again.

Would it not be better if we did sell the white elephant to the warriors then seek to share with st Helens
And negotiate that we build a stadium in Haydock near the race course smaller of course run by the latics owned by the latics and fuck all do with wigan council

I’m not sure why we can’t utilise the ground in the summer. The chubbys are roughly away every other week so there can be two weeks before they play. There’s quite a few weekends there.
The running cost of the ground have shot through the roof, although their not the sole reason it’s certainly not helped.

                The real reason is
                Wages
We were paying Championship wages in L1 then there was nothing left to bump the squad up in the summer hence the sh1t were in.
Brannigan created this mess, our naive owners followed him like lemmings to the cliff and over.
I’m not sure a ground out of town works for us. We’ve not the biggest fan base and the current location is quite central for all.

I always said when DW built the stadium “25,000 !! ?? is he off his tree???”
Our ground should have been 15,000 20,000 no more it’s too big. Even in the Prem we rarely filled it.
I’m sure the rugby top dogs do not want the ground they know how much it cost and let’s face it, their crowds are fcukin vvank

CW .. with respect .. in a relatively tiny town how nearer to the centre could we have gone ? The Rxxxx are irreleva  nt ..paupers ..sad thing is , it s still peddled as a top sport and the ‘ king ‘ of Wigan .. but , the truth really really hurts .. !

The rugby peddled hype throughout the 80s and 90s to such an extent the statements uttered then are still being spoken now especially in ten media.
Mawreece got into bed with the local rags , local media , national media and spouted all level of bull about his little “regbeee cleb “ and they all still believe it.
They are very much the smaller club nowadays but the bull peddled then by this arrogant megalomaniac still lives on.
The ground needs to fully purchased by the council , if they can find stupid money to build a glorified motor track over an old coal pit then surely this is minuscule investment and would please most of the people who pay their fecking wages!!
Our club would surely be more sellable at that point and the council would recoup the money by selling their existing offices and then using the vast space at the ground as council offices with loads of parking around the place for the workers etc.

                    #199647

Sensible suggestion Vince and one that a lot of folk would indeed support. I dare say, if there was a referendum of ST holders as to Council ownership, there would be at least a 90% yes vote with Warriors, and a 75% yes vote of Latics. Ground is too big – everyone agrees, so perhaps turn one of the stands into something else – Council Office complex perhaps and then run with a 20K stadium, with segregation for visiting fans across one of the other stands.

The red part of Wigan have had 20+ years of being tenants, so for almost a generation now, its not been a big issue and has meant that the Warriors have found a way of operating within their means, with an owner who is comfortable with the financial situation.

Its the remaining blue bit that you’ll need convincing – and its probably most of the posters on here to be blunt. Some of those have used the stadium as a Willy Waving competition over the years, as they feel without their own ground, the club is nothing. Not true. Its still their club, but it would mean they would be tenants, paying exactly the same in rent per game as the rugby. Equality is not an option – they want superiority, and some want total dominance. Some of the posts about walking away if IL buys the stadium are very sad – its still your fucking club!
