Come on someone………fess up and tell us what went on at the Christmas light extravaganza?

    Speech by Bob?

Something like ” Sorry folks the lights ain’t working tonight, but they are showing the effort and commitment required. I didn’t feel it was quite the right time to press the switch cos the lights aren’t quite ready yet, they’ll come good in time i’m sure..”

the bulbs will learn though from the configuration of wires that Wigan borough council have gone for this year. Its a slightly different configuration then last year. Fuses might might get blown but i am sure we can all learn and move forward together. bob said he is quite happy with the one bulb on it’s own at the top of tree

They are only here because they are going to a charity do/Fashion show at Chicago Rock. How do I know?

Because I was offered the gig and turned it down, as I’m busy working on other things at the moment and taking a couple of weeks out from performing whilst I do some recording.

      Get a grip!! [/quote]

I’ll grip you round your neck, yer blurrt!!!

In short ‘BBC 2 stylee’ sketchy thing, that they have in between programmes…. Stay with it!!

Wiggun Christmas leets turn on. Wiv geet sum reet good guests wi us t’neet. Let mi introduce ’em. Firstly, we’ve got those world famus superstars, t’warriors. Take a bow, lads. (Cue a couple of roid-heads waving and smiling at the crowd…with their shiney (false) teeth, to a backdrop of Tina Turner and “Simply The Best” being played by Paul La Roy on the ‘Wish FM’ roadshow stand.)
“And next, wiv geet a bit o’ blue for ya…no parents, don’t worry, it’s not a joke about a nun and the vicar, it’s Anthony Costa from the pop group, Blue” (Cue the sound of Blue’s ‘Mother’s Pride’ above the odd ripple of applause and a couple of fat Sharons cooing over him as he smiles and waves at the crowd. “And now, wiv our own superstar folks. Yeah, please welcome all’t way from’t Big Brother house, it’s Luke Marsden” (cue an embarrassed ripple of slight applause, as he grabs the microphone and screams in a high pitch ‘Hiya Wigan!’.
“And that just about brings us to…(he’s interrupted by a someone whispering in his ear)…oh yeah, I nearly forgot, wiv our own lickle bit o’ Spanish wi us as well, t’neet, and am not talkin licquorice! Though they have had a few lickin’s this season! It’s Latics manager, (rolling the R’s for effect) Rrroberto Marteenez! (Cue Bob stood there smartly dressed and waving to the crowd)

Emcee: “Well, wi’d better geet these leets on before’t meter run’s art, ha ha!! Only kidding folks! A tell thee what, seeing as your’t nearest (to Roberto) dus’t want press’t switch?” So Roberto goes to press the switch and nothing happens. Cue puzzled look and a bead of sweat clearly visible on Emcee’s head. “Blllloody hell, lad, a think tha’ve brock it!”
Roberto-“We have to find the positives from the situation, and the solutions to our problems. The positives are that I am being paid by the hour and will probably stretch another 30 minutes out of tonight, and we have to be patient whilst we work to find the solutions to our problems. Overall, I am happy with the night, but it is just the result we must work on. Overall, I am happy.” (smiles)

‘Bob, shine the light’- By Vat69.
(Scenario: It’s Wigan, a Thursday night in November, it’s dark, damp, and dank. It’s Christmas lights switch on time, with guests from the local world of sport, plus a couple of Z list celebrities. And Harry Batt-probably being molested by Jimmy O’Neill, but that’s another story…..)
Emcee “Good evening everybody, and welcome’t Emcee-“Well am blloody not happy! Some little sheet’s only gone and pull’t wears art’ o generator! Lickle bastuds! E’re lad (to Roberto) hold this torch so a can fix it”

The morale of this story is that although at times we question some of the things he says or does, there is nobody out there at present who can ‘hold a torch’ to Wigan quite like he can. We can see he is building something, on a very tight budget, and with good, young players in mind.
