Thought the performance tonight was pretty decent with good tempo and a very entertaining match all told well worth the tenner admission.
Good finish from Waghorn for the first goal and some fine saves from Ali in the second half made it a very enjoyable evening for the few that turned up and we have plenty to look forward to based on that performance.
Just a couple of little moans though I purchased the ‘match programme’ tonight and was charged £1.50 for what was little more than leaflet folded into four of a type the local takeaway pushes through your front door.
Also they unveiled the new kit with BLACK shorts ???????
Sorry but it looked an awful combination and a strange choice16 July 2014 at 2:38 am #132299Waaaaoooowwww!!!!!
How good did Frazer Fyfie look tonight. :cheer:
Ran the game from start to finish and some of his passing was breath taking. I don’t want to go too over the top in case it was a one off, but he had everything in his locker tonight.
Loads of positives coming out of that game, including the swaggering calmness of Andrew Taylor, the energetic and all action Tavernier, the link up play and crosses from Taylor-Sinclair when he came on, the coming of age of both Tim Chow and Ryan Jennings, the brief introduction of what Riera can do [how good was that run from his own box to theirs], the solid 20 mins or so of Thomas Rogne, the cameo performance of the “trialist”, all in all a great feast of football against a very good team indeed. They have finished 3rd in the last 2 seasons in the top flight in Turkey.

16 July 2014 at 3:14 am #132302Couldn’t make the players numbers out, it will look even more of a mess with their names on.
It certainly would look miles better with white shorts with just a touch of blue and black trim. A large blue or white un-striped section on the back housing the numbers and names. :)From Matlock to ManU

16 July 2014 at 2:19 pm #132311Fraser Fyvie immense
Ali played well and some of his saves which came back into a dangerous area were picked up well by our defenders, they all looked on the ball.
Best Latics warm up game I’ve ever seen, although without the names on the back I couldn’t make out who the hell was who! Fyvie with his ginger mop and Ali with his bald yed and beard were about it.

16 July 2014 at 3:02 pm #132313Best Latics warm up game I’ve ever seenI wouldn’t read too much into it though. Pre-season games are useless for predicting things. I seem to remember Jason Scotland looking good for example.

God forbid we should get relegated and have him leave for a bigger club.

It might well have been the best pre-season performance we’ve ever put in. I just won’t get carried away off the back of it personally but of course everyone else is free to do so.
17 July 2014 at 12:55 am #132329Good friendly and a good win against a team who will compete in the champions league this coming season.
