So somebody on here said that Holt had gone into his top 3 worst wigan signings so come on folks give us your personal top 3 worst signings!
Off the top of my head I will go ( In no particular order of shitness )
1- Julius Aghahowa
2- Marc-Antoine Fortuné
3- Jason Scotland
Bear in mind that I have been going on less than 15yrs !
Edit- With the benefit of hindsight it would appear that my selections are in order of shitness! :cheer:
22 May 2015 at 3:42 am #142440Not sure about Fortune, Phil. Not been good certainly, but worst 3? I’m not so sure.
I’d throw in a controversial suggestion – Zaki.
Great when he decided to turn up, but a nightmare otherwise.

Great when he decided to turn up, but a nightmare otherwise.
I did say ” Off the top of my head ” however for me Fortuné has been a bad signing! Come on George give us 2 more but preferably 3 as Zaki scored a few good goals for us! The nightmare behaviour scenario is allowed mind and so if you think his outlandish behaviour far outweighed his goal scoring then include him by all means ! ;)
22 May 2015 at 4:31 am #142442I agree with Aghahowa and Scotland :)
And yes, I think Zaki’s off the field antics made him much more of a liability than was made up for by his goals, so overall he was a waste of time, money and effort.

1. Boselli cost us a fortune
2. David graham scored goals for fun at torquay then immediately dried up here
3. Rachid Bouaouzan remember him?? Paid over 800k and don’t think he played one minute of league football22 May 2015 at 12:22 pm #142447I’d have to put Koumas near the top.
Big transfer fee, big wages (for us), little Impact and took an age to get him off the wage bill.22 May 2015 at 12:58 pm #142448Top 3

A bit harsh on David Graham. I remember him playing in midfield for much of the time. Our forwards were Ellington and Roberts.22 May 2015 at 1:35 pm #142449What about Stephan Bidstrup in 2000? Came with the “best box to box player in Denmark” tag.If I remember correctly didn’t he sign a 4 1/2 year deal ? and was released 1 year later.
22 May 2015 at 3:06 pm #142453Too many to choose so I’m doing two. In no particular order.
Premier League era
Olivier Kapo
Rachid Bouhazzan
Julius AgahowaPre Premier League
Alan McLoughlin
Jeff Peron
Stefan Bidstrup22 May 2015 at 10:43 pm #142460You lot crack me up, you really do
You’re just like Sky – football didn’t exist before 1990

Of course we all know football existed before 1990, FFS sake some even went to Goole away.
If you could check the age of a lot of the fans that come on here you might find thay weren’t even born before 1990 or 2000 for that matter, so how could they comment on players they haven’t even heard of never mind seen play.If you want a list of old crap ones that no one has heard of I’m sure LHL, Donny, Griff, me and Garswood could give you a few.
I’ll start the ball rolling with a debutant goalscorer called Richard Brolly, and that’s probably around the 1990 era, I’m sure some will come up with more obscure ones.

Nah we are just not all old feckers ;) ;) i am 30 and i first went in 93 so you have to be at least 35-40 but i would say about 45.
I think one poster did mmention his age group and how long he had been going.
So who is in your top 3?Mine (from what i remember) and taking into account the levels of football at the time etc would be :- in descending order (and consistently playing, not just a few games = a dog shit player) but i need 4
4. Peter Kennedy
3. Michael O’Neil
2. Brian McLaughlin
1. Alan McLoughlin22 May 2015 at 11:18 pm #142463George Urquhart.
22 May 2015 at 11:19 pm #142464Brian McLaughlin nearly got in mine but Peron just beat him to it.
How about Leigh Jenkinson and Ged Brannan?

Brannan was agonizingly close to creeping into mine.
Jenkinson only played a few times, i wouldn’t have him in there.
He was about the same time as Smeets. From what i remember i don’t think Smeets was as bad as the press he got. I remember him scoring 2 good goals against Brentford, 4-2 (i think) no research there so if that is correct then my memory is superb ;)
Peron was awful, As was Gino Padula, Darren Sheridan, Andy Porter and Graham Lancashire
Not many defenders making the list but the worst one i have seen is the current manager
