Our top goal scorer Callum Lang 6 for Oldham arrives back. Will he get a chance on our bench or an actual game?
Could be soul destroying for him if he has to feed off scraps with no support but he must be worth a chance at some stage.1 January 2019 at 6:41 am #174571Our top goal scorer Callum Lang 6 for Oldham arrives back. Will he get a chance on our bench or an actual game?

1 January 2019 at 1:12 pm #174572Let’s be realistic here though. He’s scored 6 goals playing in a League 2 side
He’s done well there but we’ve all seen over the last few seasons the massive gap between Lge 1 & the Championship. Well double it for the level he’s been playing at
If he stays I’d say sub appearances are what he should be given just to test him out in small bursts. For me his time at Oldham over the last few months doesn’t put him in front of Grigg (20+ goals a season player in lge 1) or Garner (proven Championship striker over several seasons) or Vaughan
That’s not to say those 3 aren’t without their faults but it’ll take more than 6 goals on lge2 to convince me Lang should be chucked into Latics’ starting lineup1 January 2019 at 2:09 pm #174576Should be straight in alongside Joe Gelhardt in a 442 with McManaman on both wings he’s that good.

It’s pointless keeping him, infact, it’s pointless having an Academy because thier written off before their ever given a chance. Were better off getting loans in from the the Prem so we can improve their young lads so they can sell on for a tidy profit.
Over the years we’ve had alot of so called hot properties down here on loan who have turned out to be no better than our own.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a young left back coming through the ranks and given the same chance as Robinson has had1 January 2019 at 3:09 pm #174578I agree in a way, but with the sport the way it is at the minute we never seem to take the risk. Chelsea have a superb youth setup but would rather buy to ensure they stay near the top.
One thing the new owners have said they are keen on is promoting our youth so I do expect to see more lads given a chance but I think it will be in a year maybe 2 years time once we have consolidated at this level
1 January 2019 at 4:03 pm #174581once we have consolidated at this levelI love how you have wrote “we” & not “if we have consolidated at this level” egg. Such positivity to start of the new year. Well done Sir! For the record, i’m with you.

If they think they’re good enough (a la Jewell with Baines) then they’ll play. If they don’t think they’re good enough (yet at least) they’ll send me out on loan.
Truth be told none of us know how good Lang is so I think to call for him to be put in the first team on the back of 6 lge2 goals in 4 & a bit months is clutching at straws coz we’re so bad at the moment.
Look at it this way if Latics were to sign someone tomorrow who had that record, we’d all be completely underwhelmed.1 January 2019 at 9:42 pm #174601Our problems have also been down to tactics as well. We have had Waghorn, Cosgrove Toney etc who have scored pot loads since leaving. As tilders says we have to trust the manager whoever he is. He is paid to do the job.
1 January 2019 at 9:59 pm #174602Harry Kane could have played for us today and would have looked as isolated and hapless a both Garner and Grigg. They didn’t even have scraps to feed off today.
1 January 2019 at 10:01 pm #174604Were not going to a attract a 15-20 goal forward in the memory of man so forget that. The new owners have already recognised we need to bring players through especially with the top training facilities we have.
Can Garner be any better than certain players we have out on loan at the moment?, well we’ll never know as long as thier playing in the lower leagues were they play long ball football and players are kicking sh1t out of everyone on sh1t pitches with Stevie Wonder refs1 January 2019 at 10:24 pm #174609Were not going to a attract a 15-20 goal forward in the memory of man so forget that.We already have one who gets splinters in his ass every match but the idiot in charge doesn’t use him until we are 3-0 down. Time to go!!!!
