Come on, money where the mouth is time. And be realistic, no Messi no Buffon.

Hoping for a the above tireless wingback.

If Alcaraz comes back to full fitness then we should hopefully be okay at CB.

Kicking lessons wouldnt go amiss for Ali

Surely we have enough CM’s?

Once Kone is back we will have Him, Di Santo, Henriquez, Boselli and Dicko all able to play in and about that area a far cry from the days of having Bomber Roberts on the bench!

I don’t know who.. But I vote for the Wing Back. Preferably (Definitely) the LWB. Anything to replace Beausejour. B)

For me, an improvement in any of thoese spots (probably bar the goalkeeper) would be an improvement though if I had to pick one it wold be the 10-15 goal man. Realistically, and he is apparently available, I’d go for David Graham. But as Roberto seems to have put his striking eggs in Henriquez’s basket, I’d probably go for a wing-back, on the basis that we are less in that area than others. I ahve no clue who, though. The lad Stones from Barnsley has been touted but it’s a bit much to pin everything on an 18-year old Championship player.

Wing back for me. Although we don’t have a prolific premiership striker, we probably potentially have more goals in our existing squad than we have for years (although that is not saying much). As already stated, we already have quite a lot of options in central midfield. With playing three centre backs, you could argue that if one of our players dropped a you know what, there could potentially be somebody else there covering those mistakes. I also don’t think that goalkeeper is top priority. Despite a lot of talk on here, there isn’t actually any evidence that Politt is any worse than he was 5 years ago. For those reasons the biggest area that I think needs improving is with a quality all-round wing back that both gets stuck in defensively, but can also get the ball back up the other end of a field fast. AKA, the fast counter attacking football I think we are supposed to be playing.

10-15 goal man – would agree

David Graham – not a bad call; though I think you’ll find he’s a Danny boy (if not mistaken)

        It is Danny Graham

David Graham was the player Jewell signed from Torquay and who was woeful in the Championship.

Yes, I know. As I was typing it I was actually thinking how much of a let down David Graham was when we signed him and that must have made me type his name instead.

Incidentally, talking of let down Davids… did you know that, in the early part of his career, David Cotterill used to wear his boots on the wrong feet? I have no idea why either, but it explains a lot.

think he had them on the right way round last week; scored an absolute belter (or ‘worldie’, as Merson, SKY might say) for Donny Rovers

I think that it is somet to do with making the boot tighter on your instep & front/top bit of your foot & (theoretically) giving a player better control of the ball with the areas of your foot you use the most to strike the ball – I saw an article in the Daily Mirror once by Robbie Savage where he was talking about how every footballer he has ever know wears boots that are a size or 2 too small for them for this reason. His feet were an absolute mess coz of it
So it’s either that or Mr Cotterill was unable to dress himself properly.

On David Graham, at my invitation (as I coached one of the teams) Paul Jewell was going to attend the Tyldesley & District Primary Schools Football Tournament that year to dish out the prizes but Brenda Spencer phoned me up the day before to say he was unable to make it as he had to go & complete the signing of a new player. Turned out to be David Graham – he’d have probably found more talent at our tournament.

Griff – It will probably surprise you to know that my coaching instructions to my team consisted of hit em hard & when you get the ball get rid of it & get it forward. None of this tikky takky (or whatever they call it) $h!te. Surprisingly we didn’t win

EDIT – in the poll, can we have another option for a goalkeeper who is able to do something with a shot other than palm it out directly into the path of any in rushing attackers? ;)

See, my – sorry, Roberto’s – way is always the best. ;)

I toyed with that, but the last time I suggested that Ali perhaps might not be the actual best keeper on the planet, I was rounded on by the window-licking, hard of thinking section of the membership.

That’s a tough one but would stump for a creative midfielder.
First thought was a striker, but any striker needs service and our current two don’t get as much service as they should.

LWB ran this decision close though
