Commonly used by commentators to describe a player who plays brilliantly, top of his game, has an excellent game etc. …… Is it just me being thick, or would anyone else think that “unplayable” would mean something like unable to play, or not able to play, or cant play ???
I’m with crammy yick. It’s a clumsy at best, downright ugly term at worst that’s crept into punditry and commentary recently, used by people that also say ‘he’s went for the ball’. The only applicable place for unplayable in sport for me is in bat and ball sports where you play shots, particularly cricket where a delivery can be unplayable.
