Much better performance that today, but we have to convert the chances.
If we don’t get 7-10 points out of the next four games to stand a chance as we go into December

23 October 2011 at 12:12 pm #72385I’m so glad I have a decent set of intelligent Latics-supporting mates with whom I can have a sensible real chat about all things Wigan – good and bad – rather than having to deal with a bunch of internet no-marks who seem to actually take great delight when the team is struggling… and appear to have nothing constructive or helpful to add to the debate other than Martinez is a w@nker and Whelan is a c.nt.
Not (only) directed at you Hindley, by the way.
Most of the afore-mentioned mates have long since got fed up of this forum and can’t understand why I still bother. They may well have a point.
And before anybody (it’ll be one of the usual suspects because you are all THAT predictable) whines that I simply slag everyone off that doesn’t agree with me, it’s not about the opinion, it’s about the tone and general attitude of the argument.

I spend a big chunk of my hard earned money every season watching my team. Which under Bob has become less enjoyable every season. So I’m afraid Griff it gives me no pleasure at all in fact it pisses me right off. I want to see us win some football matches and be able to leave the DW with a smile on my face instead of moaning about our managers incompetence.
23 October 2011 at 2:03 pm #72394Well don’t go then. I do still enjoy going. Sorry you don’t.
23 October 2011 at 2:08 pm #72395We are bottom of the league Griff and clearly struggling, the mood of this board is subdued to say the least. As we walk from brick to ground each home game we sort of accept what we are letting ourselves in for ! I even detected a little negative vibe from you the last time I walked with you !
23 October 2011 at 3:22 pm #72397I agree we are struggling in terms of league position, but I still think we have enough quality in the squad to stay up.
I watched the game yesterday and if you had been watching your first game of football, I’m sure you would have said that the team in blue looked the better outfit.
The highlights for me yesterday included the number of clear cut chances we made and the solidness of the back four…. for once. It’s far too early to write them off otherwise you may have egg on your face come May, just like a lot of people on here did last season. B)
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!23 October 2011 at 3:25 pm #72398We are bottom of the league Griff and clearly struggling, the mood of this board is subdued to say the least. As we walk from brick to ground each home game we sort of accept what we are letting ourselves in for ! I even detected a little negative vibe from you the last time I walked with you !I do know what I’m letting myself in for. I’ve known it for about 6 years. And in case nobody had noticed we have been struggling for about 6 years, too. Last week I was particularly negative because both the manager’s selection and the players’ performance were bobbins that day.
We are who we are, and we have the financial situation that we have, and that is why we have the manager, players and funds that we have.
I have still yet to hear any sensible, realistic suggestion as to who would be willing to replace Martinez/Whelan and do a better job, and for someone to provide me with proof that playing with “two up front” will suddenly transform us into world beaters.
23 October 2011 at 7:22 pm #72417I think it’s a general football thing that every club has a small group of fans who simply can’t / won’t see the big picture. Things go wrong and the immediate solution is sack the manager or the chairman has to go.
I watched the Wolves game yesterday and couldn’t believe the abuse McCarthy was getting. He’s probably assembled the best squad that they’ve had since Billy Wright was a lad and yet they don’t agree with a couple of his substitutions and ” he’s getting sacked in the morning “.
I bet there was even some whoppers in Old Trafford today who said that Ferguson’s time is up.
23 October 2011 at 8:19 pm #72421Don’t know what all the doom and gloom is.
We’ve moved up a place today
