Wigan Coachways have cancelled the coach that was running to City tonight.
Booked it over a week ago and they rang 5 mins ago to tell me it had been cancelled due to lack of bookings.
I need a solution, tried supporters club and they only have 1 place left, there are 2 of us and the last thing I want to do is have to drive.
29 March 2010 at 2:40 pm #27901I would have thought the train would be the best bet.
29 March 2010 at 2:42 pm #27902I was hoping a coach/mini bus but if not, train is best bet as you say.
Anyone know the best station to go to from Wigan? Closest to ground?
29 March 2010 at 2:48 pm #27903Probably Piccadilly, then taxi.
29 March 2010 at 3:03 pm #27904I think Victoria is closest (according to a mate of mine) then jump in a taxi.
If anybody knows any coaches, etc please let me know asap. Thanks.
29 March 2010 at 3:09 pm #27905Piccadily is closest and sign posted its about a mile away and you can get a bus if you fancy from the bus station! Off the top of my head theres a little station a bit closer called ashby or summat but im not sure what trains go that way!
29 March 2010 at 3:10 pm #27906Just googled it! Its ashburys!
29 March 2010 at 3:13 pm #27907Train to piccadily then there are buses running to ‘Sportscity’ (the magic bus), that will take you straight to the ground for a quid. The busses run from outside piccadily21, but you’ll see the queues anyway.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
29 March 2010 at 3:47 pm #27911alex were going in the moon at 4 and then getting the 4:58 train, come with us if you like its no trouble. oh and we tend to jump in a load of taxis usually a quid each when we go to city, united, liverpool and everton.

We’ve seen the 5:56 train and that looks most likely at the moment for us.
29 March 2010 at 4:21 pm #27916I think the trains from Wigan go to Victoria. if they do then jump on the metrolink to Piccadilly.
Once at Piccadilly come out of the station & turn right at the lights to go up Ducie Street. Walk up there past a couple of car parks & apartment/hotels/converted warehouses & you’ll notice a canal on your right on side.
Get on the tow path & walk up the canal past some relatively posh looking apartments till you come to a road bridge that’s a dual carriageway.
Up on to the road, cross over the dual carriageway. Take your first left & from there you can see the ground & follow the crowds.
Its not really any bigger walk than from Wigan town centre to the DW.
Or you can be a lazy get & jump in a cab but be warned I tried that once with a group of us & the taxis in Manchester get very busy approaching kick off for City games & I think we ended up getting to the ground 15 minutes late after waiting for over half an hour for a cab when (unkonw to us at the time) it’d have been quicker to walk29 March 2010 at 7:05 pm #27933I think the trains from Wigan go to Victoria. if they do then jump on the metrolink to Piccadilly.

Cheers for the advice.. could save us a bitta time and money!29 March 2010 at 8:18 pm #27942Or if it’s a Victoria train change at Salford Crescent, loads of trains go through there to Piccadily. Then walk as Tyldsley said.
