I blame the rugby for that game they played 5 months ago when the pitch was in tip top condition.

5 February 2018 at 5:12 pm #165951That argument will no doubt raise it’s head very soon..
Our pitch is looking threadbare and was cutting up very easily on Saturday. God knows what it will be like in a months time when two teams are playing on it. Hope it doesn’t stop us from playing free flowing attacking footy…
Out of curiosity, why does the pitch always look so good in August when we kick off a new season and after the rugby have been playing on it.
I’ll take it we just have the one team of ground staff for both codes.5 February 2018 at 5:33 pm #165954Liverpool play at Anfield
Utd play at Owd Trafford
Chelsea play at Stamford Bridge
Newcastle play at Gallowgate
Cracking answer.Newcastle…. St James Park, as far as I’m concerned.

https://www.efl.com/-more/governance/efl-rules–regulations/section-4—clubs/And we were just saying yesterday that the pitch was cutting up a bit, and might inhibit City a bit.
Ah yes, but it’s that age old thing of it being the same for both teams. If it is so bad to affect City, it might affect us as well.

I’ll take it we just have the one team of ground staff for both codes. It’s summer. Drier and more sunshine. More heat and daylight hours are much longer. It’s the growing season. The trouble is the damage is under the surface where the soil structure is damaged. It’s neither a football thing nor a rugby thing it’s just an over use thing. If we played summer football and the eggs played winter rugby it would be the same. The answer which we cannot do anything about is to have no sport played on there in summer. Well done, I say to the ground staff who do their best in trying circumstances and at the end of the day we still play on a better surface than we did during one period in the Nineties.
