1 of the very few players that I have no grudge over when he left as he did no moaning or claiming shouts that he wanted a move to a “big club”. Get well soon Tony!
If you have nothing positive to say concerning Valencia on this thread then please refrain from making any comments on it. Hope he recovers fully, and soon, personally.
Whilst he no doubt moved on for more money & glory (who wouldn’t) he did conduct himself well all throughout his transfer/shop window period & afterwards.
We all knew he was going, he knew he was gonna go but you heard nowt in the press about how he wanted to leave, he was given the chance to go in January of that year & turned it down (no doubt coz someone from united had contacted his agent & told him to wait till the summer, but still) & after he left his comments about Latics seemed sincere – somet about what a great club it was, great supporters & how he’d owed Wigan Athletic everything
I for one hope he makes a full recovery
Sounded, and looked from the pictures in the papers today, a shocker.
Hope he comes back quickly and as strong as ever.
It was one of those ouch moments you hope not to see in football…
Great player for us and as has been said, he conducted himself right.
