A great example of direct football but could anyone watch football like that every week?

3 February 2016 at 8:58 pm #146995The kind of football Leicester play is old fashioned. A thing of the past. It just doesn’t work! Plus it’s shit to watch. Gives us a ticket for that exhibition stuff at Goodison Park any day.
Only joking. I think since Standish mentioned upping the tempo someone must have listened because we have certainly looked different since that first half against Gillingham.3 February 2016 at 11:19 pm #146996I don’t remember all this kerfuffle when Rodallega scored an almost identical goal at Villa Park.

4 February 2016 at 10:40 am #147000I don’t remember all this kerfuffle when Rodallega scored an almost identical goal at Villa Park. That would have meant the mass media having to focus on Latics results/performances/ achievements/ living with the big boys for eight seasons etc etc rather than the negative stuff like crowds, chairman putting their foot in it etc etc.
What Wigan Athletic achieved was the ultimate in sports achievement and I’ve said it before,in any other country would have been a blockbuster David v Goliath sports movie.
Imagine the scenario in the U.S.of a small provincial town club rising from virtual extinction to reach the very top level of sport and winning a major trophy and representing their country in an international competition.4 February 2016 at 12:26 pm #147001I don’t remember all this kerfuffle when Rodallega scored an almost identical goal at Villa Park.

Hugo’s first goal ever for WAFC, and the first goal of that season was similar to Vardy’s but actually much much better, as well as being one of his best. But we heard nowt about it.
Every one wanted Wigan out, that was obvious. The press, BBC, pundits, FA, refs. We just weren’t big enough for them but were too good for too long. Once the bubble has burst it’ll be Bournemouth’s turn next. Match fixing and poor decisions will come their way soon. Why can’t people just accept others for what they are ….. Leicester, despite doing well are only just coming out of their phase of being accepted for what they may achieve.
4 February 2016 at 1:54 pm #147004I think this one trumps both of the goals mentioned above.
4 February 2016 at 2:13 pm #147006Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I may have to agree, or just say ‘equally as good as Hugo’s’!!!!!

Hugo’s at Villa was better, but I don’t think it was his first goal for the club. I think that came at West Brom the season before?
4 February 2016 at 4:08 pm #147011Ahhhhh, that’s interesting. To be honest I didn’t do any research, I just had a hunch that it was his first goal, first game for the club, and first game of that season. Thanks. Maybe I shudv checked Wiki first!!!! All the same a better goal than Venky’s. (I thought I remembered standing on the platform at Witton and people exclaiming what a find he was…… but memories fade in us oldies.

Didn’t score for several games and then scored the opener at West Brom before we went on to lose.
This is all from my memory, not Wiki, so I may not be 100% correct.4 February 2016 at 7:06 pm #147013Would Vardy score as many at a Chelsea , Arsenal, Spurs , etc ? I doubt it. Thw long ball and playing off the shoulder of the center half’s is working well right now for him but put him in tippy tappy footballing side hhe’ll be lucky to hit double figures
