From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!26 May 2018 at 11:44 pm #169377Craven Cottage is a tidy ground too, John. Wouldn’t have minded a trip there too.
27 May 2018 at 12:39 am #169378Villa park 100 mile nearer George especially if it ends up being s mid week game.

What a journey!27 May 2018 at 3:04 am #169379And of course, the additional revenue from 4500 Villa fans coming to the DW instead of 250 Fulham fans.
27 May 2018 at 12:46 pm #169380Villa probably one of my favourite away games, easy to get to, great stadium, decent fans, a great pub in the town centre (the Wellington), a lucky ground for us and Aston being home to the mighty Sabs. What’s there not to like.

6 June 2018 at 9:41 am #169513Interesting times at Villa it would seem. They’ve just suspended their Chief Exec at the same time as they haven’t paid a tax bill on time. This, apparently, ‘is in no way connected to Wyness (the Chief Executive)’ suspension. Ok…….
According to the BBC ‘The club’s owner Dr Tony Xia has previously stated that Villa face “severe” challenges under financial fair play rules.’
This news is on the same day that UEFA announced that the prize money available in the European competitions has gone up to almost £3bn.
The rich seem to get richer whilst everyone else, including those who once were considered rich, seem to get poorer.
6 June 2018 at 11:00 am #169515Villa still managed to spend a fortune the year after they were relegated and still pay a colossal amount in wages to a huge well payed staff.
So please Villa pay your taxes like we do. If you cant well sell some players and cut down on wages. You have no God given right to be in the greed league.6 June 2018 at 2:20 pm #169521I’m sure I was reading not long ago that Villa needed to win promotion this time or they were up shit creek without a paddle.
Why is it so hard for these big clubs to live within their means.
7 June 2018 at 12:07 am #169529Because they are “big clubs”.
I think most of would agree that for us next season is about consolidation. Mid-table will be good.
But for the Villas etc they “have to be” in the PL. It’s their birthright. It’s their destiny. They get big crowds, don’t you know?
We, on the other hand, know what a crock of Shi’ite it is.7 June 2018 at 1:26 am #169533Because they are “big clubs”.

We, on the other hand, know what a crock of Shi’ite it is.True gl and when you see what has happened to clubs like Villa etc, it makes you appreciate Mr Whelans policy on the war chest when we were in the greed league. He knew what we could afford to spend and how much we could afford on salaries. For those who wanted us to blow millions and risk the future of the club and there were quite a few on here should look at Villa and admit that “Old tight arse” got it spot on.
