Bruce left when the money ran out.
1 November 2016 at 3:54 pm #152024Agree with Standish here, we are not a Billy Big Bollox club and everyone of those three may be good managers and Pearson for one plays good old fashioned football but Yootha has been an out and out coach involved with football so could be a good choice and would come with no baggage except an excellent record from a top club.
1 November 2016 at 3:55 pm #152025Maybe we will get first picks once the vacancy at Wolves is filled.
Sherwood, Pearson and Lambert on 3 man shortlist for Molineux job.
Yep three managers with experience, we go for under 21 team coaches or someone with very little experience ffs!
Have you thought maybe none of those three wanted the job at Wigan? What manager of that stature would want to come to a club that pays relatively low wages and has a tiny budget for transfer?
Joyce already has four years experience as a manager at Royal Antwerp and Hull, and has worked wonders with the Man U Reserve team.
There’s a fuss being kicked up by a lot of Man U fans about the club allowing him to leave as he’s highly rated, and some think he should have been given a shot at being first team manager.
Like Lowey says, the more I read about Joyce, the more I thing he’s a good option.
Have to agree Standish, all 3 I imagine think they are above a club like us and with big clubs struggling ie Sunderland they would rather wait and see what comes on offer . As a Premier League club maybe but once we went down in many we are now back to little club status.

You think we should be looking at experience? Like Coyle, Rosler and Mackay?
Or should we give someone a chance like we did with Caldwell?
1 November 2016 at 9:24 pm #152027Wasn’t Coyle Rosler and Mackay appointed by Whelan? I would expect Sharpe to have learned from those mistakes and go all out for an experienced manager with a bit of form behind him, maybe just maybe thats why its taking so long to appoint the new gaffer, hope so!
I just hope we are not going bargain basement like Whelan did with those three.
Fuck the EFL

2 November 2016 at 2:12 pm #152031Even if he is, why not? He owns the club. I wouldn’t put down any of his Managerial appointment decisions. Football isn’t like the real world and there is no guarantee that a manager who has proven themselves succefull will be successfull elsewhere. Look at the ones quoted with a glass half full and see Coyle who took over the club after relegation and totally rebuilt the side who were then playing league and euro games and not doing too badly considering the upheaval. Next came Uwe who pushed Latics along on a magnificent run and just missed out in the play-offs. Malky came and really he was on a hiding for nothing and never had a chance. Gary got us promoted in his first attempt and next whoever it is will be well vetted and chosen by all parties and hopefully will go that bit further than the last few who all were far from failures in many ways.
