Right, I realise this is going to sound like mischief making given the current situation, so lets get that out of the way before I start. It isnt……
Believe if you want. Or dont. I’m very sceptical myself. Anyway, I have been told:-
Ian Lenagan (Wigan Warriors chairman) has bought some land in Wigan (where i dont know) and plans to build a new stadium by 2013. Whelan asked him to reconsider this and even offered Lenagan the opportunity of purchasing the DW Stadium from him. Lenagan has politely told Whelan to “stuff it” and plans to go ahead with a new stadium.
The person who told me isnt a leg puller, is a rugby fan, and wants them to leave the DW as much as some on here want them kicked out.
FWIW his sources were Garry Scholfield – ex Great Britain player and Bill Ashurst, ex Wigan Rugby and Great Britain player. Of all places this was being talked about at Terry Newtons wake – the person who has told me all this being there because he is good friends with Terrys dad.

anyroad have a butchers at this classic
I didn’t know Wigan had a team until 1998, I remember a group of lads in my year at school were Man Utd fans with all the pencil cases, shirts, bags etc and going on about the treble in 99 and then I saw them one night in Ashton not long after Latics getting promoted to either Div 1 or the Prem were all singing Latics songs celebrating, I turned round and said “your all Man Utd fans aren’t you?”.They were gutted.

But if it does come to anything i’m claiming it.
