…or did anybody else think Tom Cleverley was on a different wavelength than any other Wigan player yesterday, most of his clever flicks and passes just went into open space with nobody reading them, but i also think that the passes played to him were not read like they normally were.
Not a moan just an observation, did anybody else think the same?

i actually thought until the last 15 minutes he was poor yesterday, that could be as you say things didnt seem to gell with the rest of the team, but a little like mccarthy his pass selection and movement was not up to their usual standard –
this could be a couple of things, they are perhaps trying too hard and need to relax and think a bit more – or they were actually up against a very good set of opposition players, it probably was a bit of both.

The real issue is that Cleverley’s vision is by far and above faster than many of the players around him. He’s playing the right ball, but the players around him are not reading his passes.
Reminded me a bit of when Jimmy Bullard first came to Latics. Great vision, killer passes, but no other player had the equivalent knowledge.

Not a bad effort from Cleverley to bring out that brilliant save from Gomes

Certainly thought Cleverley looked like he hadnt trained with the squad. I thought he was out of the game in the first 20 mins. Along with Moses, who went awol as well, both cam back into the game as we established our pattern of the game.

Shame we dont have players of Cleverleys class coming through the youth system.
