and who here would want us to sanction a bid to bring Emile Heskey back to the JJB.
I for one did not really want him to be here when he was..But thinking it over, if Martinez persists to play the 4-5-1 formation (which I think will be great when he gets it right).. Then Heskey would be amazing as the lone striker in it!
Contrary to popular opinion, having seen it many times over the years I don’t think Heskey works at all as a lone striker in a 4-5-1.
His strength, & why it appears Rooney likes playing alongside him, is that he pulls defenders all over the shop & creates space for another striker. His other strength is in the air where he will win flick on’s all day – if he’s up front on his todd there’s nobody around to run on to his flick on’s
To be a success as a lone striker in a 4-5-1 you’ve got to have a good first touch & be able to hold the ball up in order to bring others into play – not, as Heskey does, fall down like a sack of spuds whenever an opposition defender goes near you & his first touch with his feet is often a pass to the opposition

Thoughts please.
Its the DW james ;) Dont think Heskey would work in a 4-5-1 he doesnt really create enough chances for himself, he needs some1 else to flick the ball on to. We would need our 2 widemen to come inside and win the flick on’s stopping our width. You also need some1 with abit of pace to chace the ball.
