As a dedicated West Stander I shall be watching tomorrows game from a different vantage point; I shall be in the South Stand.
I’ve often considered a change of scenery having never been in the South before, or any of the other stands for that matter. However, the decision was made easier when I unsuccessfully tried to claim my usual seat in the West, last Friday.
Realising I’d missed the cut-off date, I rang the ticket office to ask if my seat was still available.
“Yes, your seat is still available”, I’m informed.
“Thanks. Hang on to it, I’ll be there in ten minutes” I reply.
“OK, see you. Bye”. (Nice friendly phone manner).

Eight minutes fifty-two seconds later (eat your heart out Harvey Keitel) I arrived at the ticket office. I wait for the chap in front to clear and stand at the window. Some thirty seconds or so pass while the operative (don’t want to get involved in any sexist issues here) finished her non-work related conversation with her colleague next door.
“A ticket for the Bolton game please.” I ask, “Seat (my seat number duly confirmed) please”.
“I’m sorry that seat has gone”, is the reply.
“It can’t have. I rang you less than ten minutes ago and you said it was still available”.
“I’m sorry but I’ve just sold it to the man before you”.
“But I told you I would be down in ten minutes and here I am”.
“We can’t hold seats for people. We’re not allowed to. I can let you have seat (five to the right) or seat (four to the left)”.

“Was it you I spoke to on the phone?
      “Yes it was”.
“Then why couldn’t you hold my seat for ten minutes and give that bloke one of the other seats?”
“We can’t hold seats for people. We’re not allowed to. I can let you have seat (five to the right) or seat (four to the left)”.
“Oh, forget it”. Off I march, toys well and truly out of the pram.

So all those expecting to see me in the West on Wednesday will be disappointed or, more probably, relieved.

You’ll be on your own in the South Stand, because it’s shut.

Oh well, that’s sorted that then.
        Thanks for the info.

Come in the West and sit near us Sammy, we’ll always find a spec

I’ve sat in the South Stand once Sammy when I took my lad and my mate with his son….(shudders at the memory of kids banging seats, whistling and chucking food around)

Have even sat in the East Stand once. Did you know they sing over there? Singing at football matches? Most peculiar.

Stick to the safety of the West Stand. It’s a frightening world out there.

I’ve kind of psyched myself out of not going in the West now, more so since a reasonable story has been devalued somewhat by a technicality.

I have managed to watch from all four stands, started in the South Stand when first opened, been in West Stand countless times, saw the U21 International (Brazil v Italy) in the North Stand – my only venture in there – and have sat in the East since it was opened up to us.

                East is deffo best Stand.

FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

i have with exception of last year, when we sat in es3, always been in the family stand, we started off at the south end of the west stand, when it kicked off v stoke that time all the stoke fans were sat near us in the family section until the stewards moved them to their end(north stand) via the concourse and through were the main body of ‘lads’ sat near the north stand(another in along line of bright tricks from them).
the family section was then moved into the north stand, then in our first premiership season we decamped in the south stand, last year it was the same family cost to sit in the east so we did so, my kids now hate being in the south, but 500 quid for 4 of us was an offer to good to refuse.

tonight its full circle back in the west with all the toffs, and big hitters off here.

when i went to buy my tickets yesterday a very pleasant young lady in the ticket office offered me some cracking seats in the west stand – i ummed and arred whilst looking at the screen – she informed me if i wanted the ‘good ones’ i needed to make my mind up quickly as the season ticket holder was making noises about now buying them despite having loads of time to reserve his normal seat. ;)

                  Ye it is shut.

Just gives us more seats to run past when we score

Dangerously close to hoolie-glorification talk that, LMB  :angry-boxing:

I wouldn’t umm and ahh to long LMB or else they’ll get sold!
Anyway I’ve been and got a ticket for the West. The seat number is V103.
