i’ll second that pal, gary caldwell will captain scotland on sat afternoon (live on sky) too aswell as shaun maloney playing. I’ll be watching that more than the england game TBH. According to the dwellers of the ball & boot, we’re called “africa athletic” you know!!!!!!!!!!!! nothing like good old fashioned, ignorant, minority racist’s in our town is there!

good luck to all our players over the weekend playing around the world, spreading the word of WAFC. great playing the biggest sport on earth isn’t it :)

I’m really looking forward to seeing him in the green tonight. The unfortunate thing is that no matter how well he plays tonight he will probably lose his place to Keith Andrews when he returns from suspension next month. I just don’t know how Trapp prefers Whelan/Andrews to Mac

a good lad but he should be playing for his home country, he has let scotland down imo.

He promised his dying Irish grandfather that he’d play for Ireland, so I’d say he’s let nobody down.

What defines ‘home country’? Where you were born or where you feel a sense of belonging or attachment? Being born in a barn doesn’t necessarily make you a horse.

Is that cos horses are born in stables? But long to make the step up and be born in a barn, thereby making the eligible for the barn v farmhouse internationals?

I read an interview with him where he stated that his decision to represent the Irish Republic wasn’t coz he felt irish as opposed to Scottish or because he didn’t like Scotland as a country but because he felt the SFA had treated him like dirt at every youth level as he was growing up (when he obviously felt he should have been being selected) & even when he broke through at club level it was the IFA that came knocking & not them.
Sort of an eff you to them kind of gesture

I’ve read that back three times and still haven’t a clue what you’re on about.

Yes, that’s another account I’ve heard as to why he opted to play for Ireland. Maybe the dying grandfather one was something created to deflect the backlash he received from Scottish supporters.

Either way, he’s hardly let anyone down – considering the SFA only kicked up a fuss once it transpired that he was a half decent footballer.
