There’s plenty, but the further you make people travel, the less will travel. I thought after 7 years of being amongst a couple of hundred travelling fans, you’d have worked that one out mr mod.
I believe one of the options being considered is the Reebok, which is ideal in size and location.
Since when was the reebok a thugby stadium?[/quote]
I remember the last time rugby was played at the Reebok, afew years back, big Sam was incharge spat dummy out big time reckons 3 heard of cattle wouldnt have done that damage what the eggmen did. :scared-eek: :naughty:
News reaches chubbieville that they have to move a fixture because the landlords have first shout :D
well annoyed about this,
got friends traveling from all over the country, hotels booked etc for friday night, and now they change it, terrible terrible timing here.
how is it different having them play less than 24 hours before us, we can still turn an ankle on a divet those idiots kick out of the ground.
they still have to clean the stadium in double quick time,
i dont get y its such a problem we play before them.
god i hate the latics
and i bet they will not let us play at the ground in the playoffs like the past few years.
every1 has bottled it against the latics, we should have flat out refused.
id rather refuse, and get kicked out of the ground than have to bend over for the shatics.
they best get relegated soon, or fold completly.
grrr,
and they wonder y the two teams in the town are not unified.

Of course Premier League football will have first call on the stadium. After all, it is the world’s most watched sport, beamed via satellite to parts of the globe that the rugby-loving public have probably never heard of.
Now, lets see the football-loving public of Wigan turn up in their thousands to pack the stadium out for this wonderful product. I take it there will be no free tickets for this game, such is its global popularity.

This post conjures up images of someone smashing out a post on their keyboard whilst hissing profanities through gritted teeth.
As I’ve said on numerous occasions Mutty, the people of Wigan are football loving, however that doesn’t necessarily mean they are Wigan Athletic loving.
But unfortunately for the rugby loving proportion of Wigan’s population, however unattractive Wigan v Norwich may seem to them, it is a thousand times more attractive to the rest of the world than a local derby (aren’t they all?) in a sport they’ve never heard of.
Did you lot know pnethor aka phil miller supports the worriers?
Haven’t heard of him for years!!
As for rugby stadia (33years comment above), there are a few: Widnes and Warrington (and even Leigh), and of course Saints and Salford will soon have their own modern grounds. In other words all the local teams have good rugby grounds (that at most THEY lease out to football teams – Warrington did to Liverpool Reserves). There’s only one local team that has to play second-fiddle to football. :D
And just a final comment. “The further you make people travel, the less will travel”. For the Deity’s Sake! Except a jolly to Perpignan and a trip to London, ALL the rugby games are in easy travel. You’re not being asked to travel to Darlington on a Tuesday night exactly! I know we can’t talk, but to use that as an excuse is pathetic.
Blackburn
Bolton
Everton
Liverpool
Man Utd
Man City
6 grounds all within 25 miles of Wigan (compared to just 3 rugby grounds), so I guess on this theory you’ll sell out your full allocation this year, unlike all the previous years when you’ve struggled to even shift the bare minimum allocation.
The thing is mutty our lodgers away support is largely made up of OAPs on cheap concession tickets, I would say your away support would be none existent if you had to pay the prices we’ve had to pay over the last few years, Bolton £36, UTD £42, Chelski £48, QPR this season reportedly is £50. The rugbys away support would drop by 90% if faced with those prices week after week. Because lets be honest here some of your lot have been known to whinge a bit over the slightest increase in price!
