..well pleased with that window. Was a bit disappointed about losing Yannick but we have more than made up for that loss. :cheer:
Warren has molded his squad, lets see how it shapes. It will be very interesting to see the line up on friday with not much time to work with the new boys.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!1 February 2017 at 7:56 am #154840Totally agree…..not fannied around.Got the forward i was hoping for ie within our price range and with all the attributes to frighten defenders.Looking forward to Friday…Rhodes for Wednesday??…Yanic for Norwich next week???….Be interesting.!!
1 February 2017 at 10:47 am #154842Think we’ll probably be as per Brentford and rightly so. Of the 8 new signings I reckon only Bruce, Obertan and Bogle will feature in the near future, the rest seem to be long term young potential. Big worry for me though is only two strikers in squad, one injury and were goosed.
1 February 2017 at 10:51 am #154843Well can’t argue much against anything really in that window. Only problem we will have is who to drop and players becoming disgruntled but at the end of the day its the players we have have taken us into the bottom three and what we have brought in is a mixture of young, old, potential, grafters, winners, experience and enthusiasm. A bit worried earlier in the month but hopefully there won’t have to be a long settling in period and we can get up and running with a win on Friday. It definitely doesn’t feel like Jan 2015 now that the window as closed. Oh and we have millions in the coffers from the sale of Wild Shit. We have discussed our scouting and recruitment in the past but what the hell do they do at Norwich paying all that out for a winger who doesn’t track back or put a decent cross in.
1 February 2017 at 11:52 am #154844Looked at that Jack Byrne”s Twitter picture, looks like a bit of a Irish hardcase and best m8’s with McClean, proper arse kicker.
Joyce’s headache now is shaping all the new and old players is such a short period of time and hopefully the new players can get Grigg or Bogle scoring goals otherwise it will be another building job next year
1 February 2017 at 2:40 pm #154855few of these may be for the future ..but well done to all concerned
1 February 2017 at 7:20 pm #154866When Joyce was appointed Wigan manager the first thing I thought was, his knowledge of the bigger clubs development squads/players will be immense and sure enough he’s tapped straight into along with his assistant manager and hopefully found us a few hidden gems. My worry was he might have problems dealing with seasoned pro’s as apposed to young lads but he seems to have made that transition well.
The one bonus is, all these players are in and around their early 20’s so he knows how to talk and handle them and squash any ego’s before their heads get to big for their shoulders.
Some managers man management skills with younger players leave a lot to be desired but Joyce knows exactly how to develop them and to get the very best out of young lads. A few have already said they have alot of respect for him from previously working with him. These type of players are exactly the type of player Wigan badly need, hungry players all given a second chance and hopefully they all develop into top players which is good for both parties.
We are a club based on giving young ambitious players a chance and to develop into top players and giving players who were out of favor with their club a 2nd chance, Palacios been a prime example. And with a some older heads in the squad I can see us steering out this bottom 3 mess were in.Bogle reminds me of Ellington, you know it’s there from banging them home at lower league level but now he has to prove to all he can replicate that in the Championship. If he fires on all cylinders from the start I can see him moving on to bigger and better things and in a year or two selling for stupid money.
It’s a shame Huwes didn’t stop rather than get sent out on loan to Ipswich from Cardiff, never get bigger than your boots, fool to himself.1 February 2017 at 9:13 pm #154867The mind Bogles. Imagine if he is another Ellington. Just as long as he doesn’t bog off on the eve of the new Premier League season.
Lad at work speaks good of The Angel having seen him a few times and says he’s got lots of pace and can cross. Perhaps Norwich have signed the wrong man.2 February 2017 at 3:33 am #154874I hope the lad from Grimsby is another Duke which is exactly what’s needed.
