The club are letting season ticket holders buy another two tickets for £12 and giving them a third free, I can’t do linky things or I’d put it on. Well done to the club though, let’s hope this gets good gates for the final games.

http://www.wiganlatics.co.uk/page/Ticke … 08,00.html26 March 2010 at 2:39 am #27623There are two ways of looking at this one – firstly the club should be applauded for trying to fill the ground for the last 3 games. On the other hand, as someone who unfailingly pays out up front for a season ticket, bringing a mate for a few quid does not really have any benefit to me. Mates/acquaintances/people I don’t really like – not Latics fans as they’d be going anyway – often ask when the next offer is on and can they go. That doesn’t exactly reward my loyalty.
How about offering the opportunity to buy next years season ticket now at a 10% discount or something like that? It seems to work ok for other clubs.

I thought exactly the same but didnt want to come under fire for being negative ! How exactly does the loyal season ticket holder actually personally benefit ??

26 March 2010 at 3:01 am #27627Interesting point Filmoss…
I have no friends, so I hope to use this offer to entice people into speaking to me, so that they can get cheap tickets…

i agree it doesnt exactly repay season ticket holders who go alone but for those of us who dont go every game at home it will save them / me a fortune and b4 the attacks come in i go nearly every game home and away and have done 4 yrs and it sort of pays me back the £40 ive spent to go to fulham on good friday . Even tho we are still going down 4 the day

26 March 2010 at 4:23 am #27639I suppose you could try charging the person you get the tickets for, a tenner a game is a good deal for both of you, you make £18, he gets 3 games for £30.
26 March 2010 at 10:03 am #27641leading the way on cheap tickets again and a good idea to boost the crowd at these very important games.
-about time some of the other clubs followed suit.26 March 2010 at 11:19 am #27645Sorry for being lazy with this, but does anyone know how much a season ticket compares to the price of match day tickets with all the offers. Bet it isnt much different.
26 March 2010 at 11:26 am #27648“I thought exactly the same but didnt want to come under fire for being negative ! How exactly does the loyal season ticket holder actually personally benefit ??”
They don’t but I’m guessing that the club’s thinking behind it is that if some first timers are enticed along by the offer of a cheap ticket from someone they know then they might, just might, think it was a good day out & come more often next season when there aren’t offers on or even get a season ticket.
You’ll find plenty of die hard Latics people out there whose story begins with “I was dragged along there once by my dad/other relative/mate etc.. & was hooked”Also the club knows that its most committed people are ST holders & that most want to help bump up crowds in any way they can so by putting the offer through them they will spread the word. Its far cheaper than an advertising campaign – As someone who doesn’t go anywhere near as much as I used to I’ve already been offered cheap tickets by 3 ST holders so it shows its working
26 March 2010 at 1:48 pm #27652I suppose you could try charging the person you get the tickets for, a tenner a game is a good deal for both of you, you make £18, he gets 3 games for £30.I think you may have misconstrued the deal “Blue” Read it again. You have to buy 2 tickets PER GAME to get a third free. Most would struggle to tempt 2 mates or family along I would of thought, then there’s the third “Free” ticket !
This deal said it is rewarding the ” Loyal ” fan. Well it doesnt reward me in anyway !26 March 2010 at 4:20 pm #27660Maybe it’s where I live, but the people who would come with me are a: supporters of other teams, b: only coming because they like football and it’s cheap, c: have no real affinity to the club apart from liking the way were are still here after 5 years and d: might just put one over on Arsenal.
Not the ideal sort who should be benefiting from such special offers when the loyalty of others is apparently unnoticed.
Or maybe I just keep the wrong company…
26 March 2010 at 8:06 pm #27674There are plenty of season ticket holders who have Latics supporting children/grandchildren, or know of Latics fans who have had to cut back on the number of matches they attend for financial reasons.
The biggest hurdle is getting people into the ground, once there anyone can be converted.
