Can’t go as at work now….mate rang me …..” You could have a world renowned CSI DNA extraction expert who wouldn’t find a trace of it in our club”..he stated…F######## pitiful he said….no game this weekend, 8 changes and states he actually wants to go as far as we can…..bollocks!!!…Playing a development team…ff’s…..5 u21 teams started at 7…..other 4 losing..City,Leicester, Wolverhampton, Villa all losing at H/t…..not us though…..what the f### is he doing to the game of football???….
Hugill…..he’ll never see 1st team at United……absolutely dire. Irrespective of game outcome can anyone still want him as manager??..At present all the development teams are losing at places like Salford, Lincoln, Notts Co, Colchester etc…..and we are being embarrassed at home…..I really didn’t think we could get any more pitiful……boy was I wrong. Danson is watching us from March into league 1 oblivion….obviously doesn’t give 1.
Thought Kai Payne was on loan at Oldham ? Was that a mini loan deal or what.?
He was on loan till the 11th, Oldham wanted him but we refused.
For me Cze was the best from a bad night’s work. At least he had some urgency, Aimson was awful.
5 minutes to go Watson got a ball given back to him and he launched it. Maloney’s frustration at Watson launching it up field boiled over. he was waving his arms in anger then he stormed back to the bench huffing n puffing.
And that my friends speaks volumes as to were our manager is at.
When your drawing 0-0 with an u21’s side at home playing a fairly strong side out and it’s heading to pens with 5 to go he’s still hell bent on the slow methodical pass pass pass pass out from the back.
He has a method he has his way whether it suits or works it’s this way or no way. Watson’s a kid with a lot to learn. He’s probably not comfortable playing every ball out from back, give the lad a break
Plus Maloney, it’s clearly not working

We were left frustrated by a bunch of young lads, granted they all dropped back in for the second half but let’s not forget the majority of our side weren’t much older.
The patterns clear as day, Maloney’s game is possession, he wants to be in control of the ball at all times. Take last night, as soon as a red shirt got within 3 yards of us we turned and passed back.
I lost count the amount of times our players were in fear of giving the ball away and the Watson incident I mentioned highlighted this. Maloney wants every ball played out regardless.
The only way we go forward is via a pass to feet like chess pieces move accept move accept sometimes players need to be brave and back themselves and simply attack the opposition.
Granted you will give the ball away but risk n reward football is far better than 25 passes to get 20 yards then give it back.
It’s horrible to watch, boring, but it’s Maloney’s way and we have to pray our players can adapt. Personally I don’t think their good enough, too many times simple open 1 to 1 passes 5 yards between them were cut out.
I was hoping for something different last night, experiment I don’t know but all’s I got was all of the same against a side who’s squad numbers started in the 60s and ended at 99
I’ve said for a while now, that these are the games where he should experiment with formations and players in different positions. For example:
I think Jason Kerr could make a very good “stand in” centre forward in this division. He’s strong and can get past the opposition and can head a ball. His shooting & scoring ability can’t be any worse that our current lame duck centre forwards. Plus we have ample defenders to fill the void at the back. Trouble is, SM will not adopt a more traditional formation with a true centre forward leading the the line, so we wouldn’t pass to him
Likewise, he could try Sam Tickle up front. He’s quite a big guy and has already learned to dribble at close quarters, under Maloney’s possession obsession. Oh, and he has a powerful kick with either foot.
The issues are, we have a manager who’s insisting on a possession style of football with players who can’t or their good enough to implement his style.
Then we have a owner who hasn’t backed him using money from the sale of players.
That on Tuesday was truly awful especially the first half as per usual. This pass pass pass pass and the fear of running with the ball or backing yourself in 1 on 1 situations is getting worse.
We don’t seem to be able to go forward without passing and too many times on Tuesday this backfired when players in the last 3rd gave away simple 5 yard passes.
And this is for the foreseeable future while all the while draws and losses are sending us closer to the drop zone.
Then there’s the forward factor, when all said and done we’ve currently 2 forwards favoured who keep missing glaring chances.
There was 7 EFL Trophy games Tuesday were league sides played and u21 sides,
Only us failed to win
