West Ham are spot on challenging Carrolls ban,it’s a disgrace.

Not only should the original sending off be rescinded, Flores of Swansea should have been given a 3 match ban himself for what he did.
Once again the powers that run our game have shown that they have no stomach to wage a war on blatant cheating that is spoiling our game, nobody knows if what Carroll did was deliberate or not definitely but the TV footage clearly shows that Flores was guilty of blatant cheating to get a fellow player sent off and that is worse.

I only saw the incident for the first time just before lunch & for my money he deserved to go.
He may not have intended to crack him on the head, but he knew the other player was tangled with him, you could tell he was annoyed by what he felt was holding by the Swansea player & it looks like his arms are swung round in frustration at that.
Dangerous play for me when someone is so close to you & so he deserved to go – that Carroll’s arm only brushed off the top part of his head as opposed to his forearm smacking him full on in the face is irrelevant which is what West Ham appear to be forgetting

Who knows, maybe a panel will look at it & decide that they’ve got really great fans who it would be unfair to deprive of watching Carroll play & it’ll get rescinded. I seem to remember that excuse being trotted out before!!

Whether it was deliberate or not is irrelevant. It was dangerous play to swing his arms round in that manner with someone in such close proximity & as such he deserved to go.
I don’t think McManaman intended what happened in that challenge with the Newcastle player last year but it was reckless & dangerous & he should have been sent off

Flores did appear to make a meal of the contact – that’s currently a cautionable offence so he should have receievd a yellow for it

      Fully agree.

Carroll knew exactly what he was doing. You could see the frustration in his face as he swung his arm; he meant to hit him, if only half heartedly.

If I gets rescinded it sets a confusing precedent whereby making contact with a swinging arm should not be considered dangerous play. Clubs will then appeal every red card for that offence.

That’s probably why it won’t get rescinded!

        The appeal has failed.
