Hammers joint-chairman David Sullivan this week offered the Barcelona ace, 32, a two-year deal, worth more than £7.5million, to land him.
Sullivan is prepared to pay Arsenal legend Henry around £75,000 a week. He said: “We’re trying to assemble a more prolific strike force at West Ham and I’d love to have Henry here.
“Our club is in debt but a striker of his quality and standing would make it a great deal. Henry is still up there with the best.
“I’ve made an offer which would make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
“And it’s a serious offer because Henry could walk into almost any Premier League side.”
Avram Grant’s imminent appointment as Hammers’ new manager will trigger a reshuffle of players, with some big names set to go.
Sullivan said: “We do not anticipate losing more than two first-team players.
“The idea is to sell maybe two and a few fringe players and bring in five new ones. We do not want to decimate the squad but rebuild it.”
22 May 2010 at 2:16 pm #34424I can’t see him going there, even though he’d love to be the star player at a club. Henry knows if he moved there his relationship with some Arsenal fans would quickly change.

22 May 2010 at 5:45 pm #34435there is something fundamentaly wrong with a business that owes over 100 million pounds to creditors and has told them they must accept payment over 5 years with no intrest or they will liquidate the club – being allowed to do something like this -corruption of the highest order and with west ham its not the first time.

Cutting and pasting text makes it so much easier.
What should of course be banned are responses which keep including the original C&P

24 May 2010 at 11:24 pm #34583What should of course be banned are responses which keep including the original C&PSometimes it is relevant to include (at least part of) the original post for reference but gratuitous C&P of the whole post is bad, I agree.
Mind you, if we could stay on topic for more than about three posts of any thread we wouldn’t need a tenth of the quoting we have.

25 May 2010 at 12:15 am #34596so thats you going off topic about going off topic about C&P about west ham signing henry -or something like thatThought some smart @rse would say that and I had half an idea it would be you :)
In my defence, it was already off topic :geek:
Agree with you that it is morally wrong that they make this kind of bid in their financial situation – if only to get it back on topic.

To be honest, Griff stayed on ‘topic’ technically as the current subject was what he posted about, so going to the original ‘topic’ would have made Griff go ‘off’ topic technically. :D
