Is it just me that thinks West Ham are relegation candidates? All our posts are thankful for the existence of Pompey, Wolves, Burnley and Notlob as teams that’ll keep us up, but there’s little mention of the Hammers.
I reckon they’re a prime candidate and the very public spat between David Sullivan and Zola yesterday was evidence of that and was also very funny.
10 February 2010 at 8:49 pm #22348They’re doing it on the quiet thats the difference to last time they went down when all we heard was “too good, too big, too much history” for them to go down.
10 February 2010 at 9:00 pm #22354I think West Ham will stay up, not because they’re a big club. In fact, they’re not a big club they’re like Newcastle. A big stadium and a good 20th century (or half of it) doesn’t make a big club.
So not because they’ve got a big stadium, because they’ve got too much quality in their team to go down (McCarthy, Cole, Diamanti, Upson, Green.) And some real fighters in there too (Parker, Noble)
Oh and they’ve got the Mido fella too.
10 February 2010 at 10:12 pm #22367They’ll finish belows the Tics.
10 February 2010 at 10:23 pm #22369A big stadium
Upton Park has always been one of the smaller “big club” grounds, and at 35,000 now I wouldn’t describe it as “big”.
And of course we all know that “Upton Park” backwards is “Krap not pu”
11 February 2010 at 1:23 am #22377An impressive 3 points at an almost sold out ‘little Upton Park’ against Brum tonight.
Two points seperating six teams now.11 February 2010 at 6:37 pm #22427They worry me, as they have enough talent to go on a winning run whereas everyone else down there (including us) would be unlikely to string more than a couple of wins together. I found last night’s results pretty depressing.
11 February 2010 at 7:07 pm #22432Sorry all. It looks as though my posting yesterday that I reckon WH were relegation candidates was bad timing given what they did last night.
I’ll put one in a similar vein before the Notlob game about us. Should do the trick.

11 February 2010 at 8:19 pm #22446I actually don’t mind West Ham as a club. Proper ‘peoples club’, and on the few occasions I’ve had a drink with their fans, they have been sound. Most of them are proper cockneys or Essex boys as well.
There was a time when they were everybody’s second favourite club, like in the 60’s.
I think what grates with people, is the apparent ‘favouritism’ that stems from the F.A. etc. Do they REALLY show favour to clubs such as West Ham who are perceived as being ‘heritage’ clubs with history? In all honesty, yes, I think they blatantly do. I also think the the BBC love them as well. It would certainly be a different Premier League if they were choosing the teams!

Was the drinks you had with them when you was doing a gig for your record label and all those 63 bands wanted you to be lead singer but you said no as you didn’t want to go mainstream? :D
11 February 2010 at 11:29 pm #22474if i could do a thingy showing the over the head gesture then i would but i cant so
for all us owd uns – whats mainstream please
11 February 2010 at 11:32 pm #22475Mainstream…erm….Kind of like selling out, being a small band who does gigs to small audiences, then changing styles of music or something thereabouts to get famous. So really it’s just becoming famous. Vat69 doesn’t want to do that as he thinks the music business is evil :D
*Que un-interesting rant from VAT ;)
