Some of you chaps slagging off players here there and everywhere and throwing hissy fits about losses to good quality teams do know this I assume.
I think with the massive changes in personell at our club from top to bottom, its a real boost that we are mid table and only 8 points off top spot.
No other club has had to rebuild to the same extent as us.
We have alot to look forward to this season, and a good squad of players once they get used to this league and Coyle finds his best starting eleven in relation to what opposition we are playing.
Keep the faith guys, it matters where we are in the last six games not the first.

FA Cup winningteam (with replacements for those not here):
01 Robles (Carson as good if not better)
03 Alcaraz (Barnet, worthy replacement)
17 Boyce
04 McCarthy (Powell, is better)
10 Maloney
14 Gomez
16 McArthur
18 Espinoza
33 Scharner (Rogne)
02 Kone (Fortune)
15 McManamanCoyle just need to realise that the above is his best team not dissimilar from the FA Cup winning team…. Beausejour and Watson can watch from the bench and the latter can come on in the last ten minutes to score the last minute winner as many times as he wishes. I thought Beausejour would have been OK in this league (he certainly isn’t a Prem player) but so far, he has proved me wrong.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
15 September 2013 at 10:48 pm #121076Keep the faith guys, it matters where we are in the last six games not the first. That’s exactly why people are worried. You do have to clock up a fair number of wins during the season to get in a good position for the last six games.
And the early games are each worth three points, just like the final ones.
16 September 2013 at 12:45 am #121078The Championship is the hardest league in the world to win promotion. (So the pundits say).
Win 2 games in a row and move up…3 in a row its vertical progression.
The same in reverse as well….
No one will run away at the top, every team in the top 6 will have a bad run.
I’m still confident we can be in the top 2…90%+ sure we can be in the play offs minimum.
Just bear in mind the bookies had Bolton ahead of us for promotion before the start and where are they now in the table :woohoo:
16 September 2013 at 1:12 am #121079I think a top six finish would be a more realistic ambition.
Wigan are beginning a run of seven games in three weeks. Let’s see how this affects their league form.

I agree with this. We shouldn’t be looking at anything less than a top 2 finish with the players we have. That on Saturday was a shambles, to be pushed off the ball and out muscled in the way we was is ridiculous. I couldn’t even tell you what formation we were playing at times or if there was any sort of game plan. Last season, the only thing that got us relegated was our inability to defend, which Coyle said he didn’t have to do anything but shore-up the defense. He has changed the way we are playing and is changing personnel that he doesn’t need to change.
I think it was a poor appointment in the first instance and still do, its a shame because he would be better suited to be a Director of Football because I cannot fault him of the signings he has made. Somebody needs to give him a copy of last seasons games and the FA cup games so he can understand how to get the best out his players and how they are already used to playing together. He needs to see how Maloney should be played, how to use McArthur and McManaman properly.
I want him to succeed, I want us to succeed….but I won’t be surprised if he is out of a job by Christmas if this continues.

Well I used ‘We’ once and some smartarse asked if I played for WAFC !
16 September 2013 at 3:18 pm #121084Perhaps, but I won’t actually be playing. The team wins; we enjoy the victory.
I’ve been worried about the high number of games that Wigan will have to play this season. 46+1+6+1+1=55 if they do not go further in any cup competitions.
It’s interesting to learn that Burnley played 61 games when Coyle took them to promotion. And the fans considered that he was quite sophisticated in his tactics too.
