Even with all the free advertisement we have given them they have still gone into administration.

14 February 2011 at 11:04 pm #59495We should help them out ;)Carrying a blanket around the pitch at half time. Bloody hell who remembers that?
14 February 2011 at 11:21 pm #59496Someone should have seen through this, and chipped away at reducing the debt.
There would have been some pain, but in the end there is only a small window of opportunity to rescue a company like this.
14 February 2011 at 11:26 pm #59499That’ll be ‘Gavin’ on the dole, then.
15 February 2011 at 1:30 am #59511We have won it once ! The other was the Freight Rover Trophy ! :ugeek:
15 February 2011 at 4:33 am #59513We have won it once ! The other was the Freight Rover Trophy ! :ugeek:aye and we had a rusty mini-bus to prove it
we were the first winners of the freight rover trophy – it became the sherpa van trophy then it was the leyland daf –
bournemouth won it first the year before us but it had no sponsor then, when we first won it in 84/85 it was called the associate members cup and when we won again in 98/99 it was the football league trophy.we are joint top winners on 2 with port vale, stoke birmingham, blackpool, swansea & bristol city, although bristol are the most successful team with 2 wins and 2 defeats, carlisle have been to the final most with 1 win and four defeats.
who says we have no history.

I remember that, paying Stan McEwan’s wages I believe was one of the charity drives..
15 February 2011 at 7:57 pm #59572Best day ever as a Latics fan for me seeing the lads making the walk up the famous Wembley steps and turning to us raising the Freight Rover trophy. That crappy minibus probably broke down on way back to Wigan but as i say that game will always be truly special.
15 February 2011 at 8:31 pm #59574The minibus was still parked at the side of the away end when Springfield Park was vandalised/knocked down. I’m sure it’s now parked on somebodys driveway down Toulston Road.
They got there use out of that minibus

There’s no way on God’s earth that thing is still running around after 25 years.
Those things were full of rust when brand new.

Might have been a ‘Triggers Brush’ scenario.
“We’ve had the same van for 15 years. Yeah, it’s had 12 sets of tyres, 6 new exhausts, 5 new clutches, and 7 cambelts….it’s like new”. :happy-jumpeveryone:
16 February 2011 at 3:00 am #59631At the time the Sherpa mini bus was a good prize for the Club. If you look at it now it is the equivelent of Bully’s Star prize 8-)
