After todays performance he needs to look no further than himself.

Bottled 2 challenges today that were his all over. I thought he had a decent game at Burnley but I have changed my mind again, complete and utter crap. We need a captain with a voice. They scored the penalty and he just skulked off with his head down, he’s susposed to gee them up.
8 November 2009 at 11:13 pm #12530oh dear, who’s next for the hatchet. you think we had lost.
8 November 2009 at 11:19 pm #12532I say get Scharner in as captain, not because of what he said in that article. It’s all true, but Scharns has so much more influence and character. I think the players would respond better to him.

8 November 2009 at 11:36 pm #12544If he’d been appointed captain when De Zeeuw left do you think he’d want to leave? Me thinks not.
9 November 2009 at 12:17 am #12552Not got a leader on the pitch.
We need another ‘Major Kav’ type.
9 November 2009 at 12:18 am #12554We had him (cattermole) but sold him. I don’t think he would’ve been ready to be captain anyway.
9 November 2009 at 12:27 am #12559Back to the original post – I’m afraid I’m not convinced about Mario.
Prepared to let it lie if he doesn’t start coming out, as he just has, with seemingly blaming everyone but himself.
Poor distribution from him consistently (and not just today) – and I don’t really think you can call him a defender.
9 November 2009 at 12:29 am #12562I did say this a few week back, but everyone disagreed.

Hallelujah……..At last a believer. Spot on analysis.
That should have been Garswoods quote, dont know how that happened.
9 November 2009 at 11:22 am #12589At least he tries to get us going forward. Bramble and boyce just pass it to each other until one of them decides to give it to mario. He then thinks f.uck you two lets try and attack, its not his fault the rest of them team have fallen asleep by this point. If i was scotland running around upfront while they did this for 5 minutes id soon get tired of it.
9 November 2009 at 12:38 pm #12592What I’m disappointed with is hearing our captain & supposed on pitch leader saying that at 2-0 down its too late to turn things around.
What complete & total, defeatist $h!te – if Pompey managed to score 2 in the 1st half who’s to say Latics couldn’t have got at least 2 in the 2nd half?
Did City give up on Saturday when Burnley went 2-0 up?
How many games have you been to where you’ve seen a team come back against Latics or Latics come back against the opposition from being 2 goals down.
IMO a captain shouldn’t be talking like that but its evidence of what I’ve thought all season in that the team has no fight & if things don’t go their way & they drop a goal or 2 behind, they give up.
Either that or its a statement that Melchiot doesn’t think Bobby has what it takes to turn things round when a game isn’t going to plan9 November 2009 at 12:49 pm #12594Melchiot is past it. Was last season, as well.
9 November 2009 at 12:56 pm #12600I think its quite obvious its his last season as a first teamer however i still think he brings more to the team than playing Boyce out there or playing Cho at RB. However if we bring Johnny Palacios in as rumoured id hope mario would retain the first team till the end of the season whilst training him up as he looks like the perfect replacement.
As fpr the captaincy 2 or 3 times i saw him yesterday putting his arma around players and having a word which normally sitting in the middle of the west i dont normally see. Hes got to be the quietest captain in the premthough!
