Thoroughly enjoyed that performance tonight. Admit I was surprised to see Weir,Hugill missing but against one of the best attack minded sides we’ll come up against it was another brilliant defensive performance. Yes we road our luck a times but they put bodies on the line, covered each other’s mistakes and Tickle again brilliant saves. Lost the middle for spells but the wing play was a huge improvement and Taylor deserved his brace for non stop harassment. I thought before he season that Johnny Smith would be a key player and after his performance he certainly looked up to it. All in all a great performance, 5 clean sheets….and another Macmanamen specialty..just keep an eye on how many teams keep Peterborough to 0 this season…..won’t be many…..roll on Stockport!!!
Really good performance.
A similar game to the Bristol Rovers one with high intensity attacking and positive attitudes.
Plenty of mistakes but rather see that and having a go than sideways and pass backs to avoid them.
Peterborough must have gone in at half time wondering how they they were not 3 goals to the good as they had far the better of it with that superb save from
Man of the match Tickle the turning point.
On to in form Stockport and anticipation now rather than trepidation.

Credit to Peterborough particularly when we have such a young squad equally so do they .They try to constantly go for goals the penalty being they leave openings for the counter attack thats why theyve scored a lot but equally conceded more.Their starting 11…..the 4 at the back..18,18,19,22….then the rest 23,25,20,20,23,21…..So like us a very young 11 (Keeper apart). Like their performance at Birmingham they seemed to run out of steam 2nd half but the pace and intensity they have will certainly test the opposition. Even more reason why defensively it was a huge effort last night with 3 good goals .
If the lads lacked belief, and this has been the issue all along then hopefully last night will have shown them they do have the ability, they can work as a team, they can work the ball fast from back to front, and look what happens .. Please Maloney no more tinkering, stick with a style and let the lads play attacking football – interesting to see Matt Smith assist from an advanced position – he is wasted protected the mid, he has that killer pass forwards in him, Maloney needs to recognize that and let play him more advanced, but will he ..
I really hope we go forwards from here, its amazing what a good win like that can do to confidence, key as others have said is consistency, both in style of play, and personnel, brilliant win !
Agree but your asking the manager to “recognise” not a chance. Look at Bristol Chambers put 2 corners directly in for 2 goals, week after, short corners.
He’s one of those managers who wants to be seen as been the clever one someone knows the game and I knows best. He always gives the opposition glowing post match ups when they were actually just as poor as us.
Like I posted in the other thread
3-0 up
Taylors tiring after a big shift
10+5mins injury left
And he brings on Sibbick
And why?
Well you tell me my guess is he doesn’t like Stones and not for football reasons or he’d leave him out the squad altogether. I think he puts him there to humiliate him a centre back before a forward 10 to go 3 up ? would you be best pleased?.
My point to that is, Maloney can’t help himself, he has to p!ss around 24/7.
So last night first half we played well Peterborough played well and bar Tickles superb save we’d go in 1-1.
Second half Peterborough got hit early and they lost the plot and any momentum and they eventually dropped off.
Did we play any better 2nd half than the first half? uummmm I’d say no but what we did was we maintained that first half level were as Peterborough struggled to keep it up for the 90.
Peterborough did a similar thing against Birmingham last Saturday. They came out the traps 1-2 up half time then conceded in the 49min with an O.G. same minute they conceded against us.
Look I’m praising the players for last night performance especially after the last few terrible 0-0’s but we need some kind of rhythm & consistency.
What I mean by that is, win lose or draw we need a style and identity one the players get drilled into their heads in training and stop worrying about opposition and change to counter their strengths.
So now the balls rolling and let’s take that to Stockport Saturday and of the same
Can Maloney keep his hand out the “Pic&Mix” and stop chopping and changing because he can?,
Me:- I doubt it.
And the Stones saga, Maloney needs to fookin grow up dummy spitter and treat the lad fair. If you don’t fancy him then leave him in the reserves not rub his nose in it by benching him and bring a centre half 3 up.
I’d be telling him straight to fook off even if it was at Ami level,no player needs to be humiliated like that no matter how much you dislike him,
For me that’s 100% personal not tactical, if your reading this (doubt it like) chin up Josh just keep working hard lad good things will come.
And someone I said this to said
“Maloney was shoring things up at the back”
To which I replied :
“So if he had of brought Stones on straight swap for Taylor instead of Sibbick and Peterborough hit 3 in the last 10 you’d blame Stones and not the other 10 players?”
Get a grip
