Firstly I haven’t a clue what you are all on about and that’s my point. If you hate rugby and the gypos why are you all in meltdown. I take no interest in that lot so I don’t look for scores or reports or league tables. I am Latics through and through so I don’t give a flyer and if I never hear their name mentioned again it will be too soon. I suggest you all do the same unless like egg and mutt you follow both games. Why let it bother you if you hate them. I’m not even gonna try and find out what you are all up in arms for coz its nowt to do with my beloved Latics.

Wow! Just goes to show how popular Rugby League is in Wigan and how well known the Tomkins brothers are. I’m pretty sure that had that been two Salford players in a bar in Manchester, or two Warrington players out in Cheshire, or even two Leeds players out in Leeds, then it wouldn’t make the nationals.

Why are you on this site? You are a self proclaimed Sunderland and Wigan RFLC fan so what reason is there for you to be here. You are tolerated when most dedicated forums would have had you banned long ago. Is it solely to try to provoke, antagonise and be confrontational because in most, if not all, cases you fail miserably. Does this site satisfy your masochistic tendencies?
The only time rugby league ever gets national headlines is when something like this happens and sadly it is becoming more and more Wigan based.

Yep. Disgusting, embarrassing and I hope that neither of them wear the shirt again. I expect them both to be suspended on Monday, pending a club investigation, and then sacked. As Sam is leaving at the end of the season, then it saves the club a few quid on his marquee salary (that he doesn’t deserve). Joel has been a complete flop since returning from Union and his dismissal will be no great loss. They are both nowhere near the standard they were before the $$ and ££ of Aus and RU was waved under their noses.It is an embarrassment to the club and the town. Its right up there with the “Racist Chairman” incident. Clearly, as it is a minority sport played by a few pit villages along the M62, then it wont get as much publicity as DW did for his ill-advised comments, but that doesn’t make it any more embarrassing to the Wiganers.

If these were to Premier League players then it would be front page news. But as you say rugby is a minority sport hence the lack of interest from the media.

As outrageous as the behaviour was, I’m afraid it is all too common around Wigan and as a group I doubt RL players are any worse than plumbers or brickies or trainee solicitors.
My daughter saw the video and said although it was awful, she has been seeing similar and indeed much worse around Wigan and King St by lads of various backgrounds for some years now and is the primary reason she largely avoids it these days.
We just had bitter and lager (couldn’t afford ‘shorts) and certainly I never saw any of the gear that’s all over the place now. Also any indiscretions large or small weren’t broadcast over the internet
In no way condoning what went on here, a horrible experience for the barmaids and the middle aged woman who intervened…. but it’s all around us I’m afraid.
Very good comments Zeb and so true yet seems to be more and more accepted as the norm.
A reflection of society in general but an extra bit of arrogance here by these minor celebs who have this ‘you cant touch me’ attitude which goes with the large lump of 4×4 on their shoulders.
