given the precarious situation we find ourselves in AGAIN , I’m speaking more financially than on the pitch , why the hell are players for eg Fletcher still here ..Rekik appears a total liability too ..imo ..surely you’d send them back .. ?? May as well throw the much younger/inexperienced players in ..could not possibly be any worse . Also , and I’m only guessing , 17/18 of the current squad [ fully registered with us or loan ] know full well [ ? ] that they possibly may be out of work come 1st June [ loans just return to their parent clubs ] We are almost certainly down now , so just reduce the financial burden ??? :-(

There’s been very little I understand about the club this season.

I would imagine there would be some contract or agreement about not sending loan players back early. If we did send em back, would that affect our prospects of getting decent loan players in the future?

Fair point ..was just wondering .. may be clauses to ensure that they play too ?? 2 further points for consideration . 1] it doesn’t appear at this stage that these guys are shysters in the Choi mode , although time will tell and doesn’t count for much , I know . 2] Someone called ‘ Moonay ‘ on the Latics speyk/vital site suggests that we are up for sale and for an excessive price ..i’m certainly NOT a PC wizard so can’t engage him directly to ask why he feels he knows this as I can’t access/register properly onto that site .

There’s things in football we will never get our heads round it’s like a building site been run by musicians.

Firstly, we send players out on loan the likes of say Humphrys then bring in Fletcher, a guy who’s on 3 times as much as Humphrys.

Even if we paid half of Fletchers wages we’d still be spending 3-4k extra than if we had of kept Humphrys.
Scully?, He’s not always been injured. Rumours are, he wasn’t selected as we would trigger a £100k clause in his contract.

Jordan Jones, £12k a week, he was back & forth back & forth in Jan eventually we put the wrong paperwork in in deadline day therefore he had to stay put on loan.

The manager saga?, 3 managers in as many months. We then paid off two near full contracts and staff costing us millions in the process.

Youth players never even getting near the first team not even a sniff we much prefer an aging money grabbing over 30 squad rather than being lads through Josh Stones been one. Wyke and Cousins have been disasters.

We then miss paying staff 3 times and warned not to do it again by the EFL and were hit with a suspended 3 point deduction.
The EFL told Wigan to set up a bank account and place 125% wages in the account as backup a fail safe so this cannot happen again, and what happened??,
We didn’t listen and never did it so now, in this important end of season run in we face a 3 points therefore virtually sending us down.

Owners claim that they are fully committed well they have a funny way of showing it. Branningan runs the finance side of things so my question is:-

Why didn’t we have the escrow account the EFL stipulated in place when we failed pay pay wages in Oct 2022 ?. It’s clearly outlined on their website for download in a document.

            For me,

We ran before we could walk. Basically we came up a year too soon for me. We needed to get a stable footing in L1 get the set up right at the club, staff ticket office ground staff etc especially straight after a lengthy and painful administration. We still haven’t sorted the season ticket issue out from 18 months ago nevermind the squad.

Before we knew it we won promotion had promotion with a squad of League One level players on Championship money, a recipe for disaster.

Had we have had another season in L1 I’m sure we’d be better geared to go up both on and off the pitch and we’d be in a better position to remain in the Championship. I say this because we haven’t even sorted our off field finances which were now paying a hefty price for been incompetent.

For me, we have owners who haven’t a clue about UK football and the money pit it is. Even Prem clubs found this out with the proposed Euro League which failed with egg on faces.

If we go down 18+ players are out of contact and a few others want out. Mahoney will be have a nightmare of a job, a full rebuild. I would have thought with Brannigans experience with far bigger clubs than Wigan he could advise the owners and point them in the right direction but that doesn’t seem to be happening.

Branningan need sort out their direct debits or L2 is only 14 months away which wouldn’t shock me one iota

Think it’s most probable that we will go down tbh .. as for the 18 players whose contracts expire 30/06/2023 . I would suspect most won’t be offered renewed terms [ ? ] and as for others wanting to go .. don’t think people will be queueing up to take them .. if we even survive this latest debacle there will be a brutal financial correction imo ,, maybe Al Jasmi and Co are counting on a windfall from Antonee Robinson potentially ..
