What is different to the end of last season

For what it’s worth, my take on our problem (the difference between the end of last season and how we play now) is:

When we were good, we had a 3-4-3 formation that could quickly morph into a 5-4-1 formation and Moloney and Moses were quick to fall back to strengthen the defence, leaving Di Santo on his own up front.

This season we have 2 strikers with Moloney in the hole (but tending towards the left wing)with (in my opinion) Kone taking th emain central role with di Santo tending to the right wing.

Neither Kone or di Santo are falling back effectively and this is leaving us exposed on the wings – combined with JB repeatedly having th eball taken from his feet, we are being all too exposed – Young had JB in his pocket on Saturday.

I would like to see us go back to a lone striker and get someone on the right wing who is willing to track back and support the RW back.

We also have to recognise that other teams have now sussed out how to stop us – Man U did this extremely well as did West Brom – 2 up front pressing our 3 man defence to stop us building from the back and force Al Habsi into the long ball, which we either lose or it goes out for a throw in – to them!
