Very very strange comments by Whelan, but there must be something behind them.
First off it appears he’s settled for just £1.5m instead of £2m – shades of the no less than £6m for Chimbonda (and Baines I think).
Then he announces that Bob is going, much to the annoyance of Everton.
Then he says they can try to buy our players but only for the right price (which based on the above will be £1-£2m less than the first price he blurts out.
But he also says that he thinks we have a lot of loyal players.
Either he’s gone totally loopy (not unlikely), or he is goading Everton as they have a limited transfer budget, whilst showing any future Wigan manger that there will be a chance for them to stamp their mark, cull unwanted/uncommitted players and generate decent transfer funds.
