Is any of this doom and gloom really neccessary? This time last year we had just lost 2-0 at Coventry and looked what happened after that.
We have scored on the opening day, so that must be a positive, c’mon.
But Horc, We only 45 games left to save our season :([/quote]
Flash! Ah ah. Saviour of the universe.
7 August 2016 at 2:38 am #149834I didn’t expect much before kick off as city finished last season strong. But was gutted to come away with nothing.
Caldwells subs changed the game, Grigg didn’t look tired, GC went to defend the lead and we went deeper and deeper and the inevitable happened.
That said we have a lot to be happy about, apart from bogdan all other new signings looked good. We were great in the first half and will only get better.7 August 2016 at 3:02 am #149836In a word……Naivety! From Caldwell, spend the money we offered Liverpool for Brannigan on a striker and why the fuck didn’t Jussi play? I thought Bogdan was brought in to deputise unless we’ve signed him with the 75% clause written in to his loan contract.
A long way to go yet, quite pleased with the first half performance today play like that for 90 minutes next week against Coyle’s mob and we’ll be celebrating our first league win of the new season.
Up the tics!
Fuck the EFL
7 August 2016 at 3:09 am #149837Just got back…….can’t complain…..1 up …shut up shop …..in this league get what you deserve.!!! Why not go for a second…..tactics like that and we’ll strugglet…..gotta dickinson Rovers who I’ve backed to go down.
7 August 2016 at 3:10 am #149838Sorry….meant dick Rovers!
7 August 2016 at 3:16 am #149839It’s going to be a long season for Blackburn with that Mon in charge. We should get our first win for sure against them men…
Ps, Jack Hendry should be on the bench at least for that game, he’s way better than Daniels and Morgan.7 August 2016 at 8:58 pm #149850Who gives a shit about Blackburn?
What we should be worried about is Caldwell’s tactics of defending a one goal lead instead of going for a second and third goal.
8 August 2016 at 3:15 am #149854Can not argue with that point True Mon.

Well it’s our next league match so we’d be foolish not to be thinking of them…
As for Caldwell, he does tend to learn from his mistakes so I ain’t too worried at this stage.9 August 2016 at 12:21 am #149858Stuck a tenner on us going down and Caldwell being first sacked. Rubbish Wigan.
9 August 2016 at 12:23 am #149860It always happens though, play well, go a goal up and then stop doing the things we are doing right, it happened loads of times last season. We seem to be at our best when we are behind in games but we won’t get away with trying to chase games in this league.
9 August 2016 at 12:56 am #149862I was quite pleased with what I saw in the first half and for the first 20 mins or so of the second. Gilbey in particular catching the eye.
We seemed happy to get pushed back defending the edge of our box and both their goals came after young Burke was subbed. He did seem to be struggling at that point and GC confirmed he took a bang to the head and that’s why he was brought off.
A few negative things for me which are a bit worrying albeit only one game into the season, but its been evident in the pre-season games I’ve seen.
1) Perky looked a yard off the pace, getting caught in possession and missing tackles, is this a step up too far for a 34 year old? I’ll reserve judgement till 5 or 6 games in, but he just didn’t look the player from last season and if it proves right lets hope GC sees it and takes swift action.
2) The back 3 central defenders are totally devoid of pace. Bristol City were happy to keep bunging the ball into our box and managed to score 2 goals, I worry that teams who play 4-4-2 may have a big un and a quick un and that may cause us serious problems round the back.
There were 2 or 3 instances in the first half when the ball was just too long for the onrushing Bristol City forwards, but they had left our defenders trailing several yards behind them.3) We actually got muscled off the ball too many times. GC also picked up on this in his post match interview saying we were soft and it’s a mans game.
I hope we replicate the first 45 mins rather than the second 45 mins in the oncoming games and if we do we will be alreet.
Loved the ground by the way , it looked a lot different from the last time I was down there.
