I think some serious thought should be given to changing the name of this message centre to “Miserable Gits forum”.
We’re five games into the season and already the doom and gloom merchants are out predicting we’ll get X points and that we’ll be lucky to stay up. I’ve even read posters who say that we don’t belong in the Premier League and should be plying our trade in the lower regions of the football pyramid.
And what’s with all the ‘Whelan out’ brigade? I think some people need to get a reality check. So what if we have to sell our top players to stay afloat, do some of you really think we are ever going compete with the upper reaches of this mega rich league? With our support! If it wasn’t for Whelan we’d probably be in the Blue Square League and would certainly not be seeing world class footballers at the DW every week.
I for one am grateful for everything Uncle Dave has done for Little Wigan and it’s about time every single supporter got behind our club and Bobby.
Yes we’ve had an indifferent start, but having seen us at Villa I think we have grounds for real optimism. We got another win, which we may have squeaked on Saturday, and we go to Arsenal with not much to lose at all. Looking at the fixtures I would have said we would go into this game with six points and I’d be fairly happy – which is what we are doing!
My cup will always be half full and I’m certainly not going to the Emirates thinking we’re going to get a spanking and neither should any other Latics fan. Get behind the team and who knows…….we may even get a result that cracks a smile on the faces of the biggest miserable gits on this board!

16 September 2009 at 9:52 pm #8901I remember that play-off game well myself. The name is due to the fact that I live in Swine town and have done for the best part of 25 years, it just so happens that I support Latics because of parentage and relatives living in Orrell and Billinge!
17 September 2009 at 12:07 pm #8934If you allow for the multi-posters there are only two miserable gits and they produce about 90% of the posts on here.
I don’t take either of them seriously anymore :D
