when football managers leave clubs acrimoniously they tend to have confidentiality clauses included when the get compensated – football is the most insular industry imaginable – when do you ever hear a footballer/manager or ex player come pundit say – a player is rubbish or he should be sacked (managers) all they do is lick each others backsides.
To be fair with Martinez’s results this season, he must have a great boss to have kept him on.
But I take exception at the comments it was one man’s dream. How about the 1400 who watched them in the 4th division or 3rd as it was at the time. That was the dream.
I refuse to admit the club existed before I started to support them in 1980 :)

That was the dream.To be honest I don’t think any of the 1400 ever dreamt of playing in the Prem. Simply staying in the league was good enough for me, or at best the odd flirtation with the playoffs. Playing Man U and Liverpool wasn’t a dream it was a pure fantasy.
So to be fair to Whelan he probably was the only person who had the dream, vision & dosh to ever contemplate it.
