Not sure what he can do Jay, The club is bleeding money and not looking like getting it back. I can’t see Whelan just giving money away, thats what the club needs. Me and a mate queried this takeover extensively. They are citing brexit, covid and not getting promoted as reasons for leaving. If Garry Cook told them 10m investment would have got them to the premier league then they are idiots for believing it. My feeling of the takeover was not about Wigan Athletic but was more about the amount of land the club owns. They have two massive expanses of land in prime locations that property developers would snatch their hand off for. The stadium concert idea was never going to work so they are left with egg on their face and are just bailing out. Well done EFL, fit and proper persons test my arse. Every Chinese consortium should be banned from running a club. They have ruined every single one of them. Just a marketing tool.

1 July 2020 at 6:37 pm #187497Also, the wording of the statement from one of the administrators this morning says this is a hell of a lot worse than going into administration and staying up. They said “The main goal is to try and ensure the club can fulfill its remaining fixtures” The wording is alarming. It implies imminent closure.
1 July 2020 at 6:44 pm #187498I can’t believe that Whelan would get back involved. I watched a really confident interview with the administrator on sky, it almost feels like a pre pack administration where the buyer is already there and going into admin is the facilitator, of course I may be wrong!

That’s always the wording because it is. They need to ensure for example that the players don’t go on strike or that the stadium is closed.
1 July 2020 at 7:07 pm #187502I think Whelan may bankroll us until the end of the season by which time hopefully we may have a buyer.
1 July 2020 at 7:34 pm #187504So, a question. If a miracle happens and we find a buyer and come out of administration before the season end does the 12 point deduction still stand???
1 July 2020 at 7:57 pm #187505I reckon 8 points is enough (provided we beat Hull) to stay up.
Stokes run in is awful and Hull are on a massive slide.
1 July 2020 at 9:07 pm #187507I spoke chit chat with DW the other year and I say it in the nicest way, he’s not as mentally strong as he was in the past and let’s not forget, he’s no spring chicken he’s in his 80’s.
I’d be happy if he bankrolled the lawyers bill while we sue the vvankers at this EFL who allowed this sh1t to happen.1 July 2020 at 9:08 pm #187508I reckon 8 points is enough (provided we beat Hull) to stay up.
Stokes run in is awful and Hull are on a massive slide. It remains, were in admin regardless
1 July 2020 at 9:12 pm #187509Honestly can’t see 12 point deduction standing. Just been in sky sports news saying there’s no chance they can do it given circumstances of club sale and covid.

Lets get relegated then. That should help wiyth any potential buyers
1 July 2020 at 9:58 pm #18751112 points deduction surely should be challenged legally especially given the unique circumstances and EFL have a lot to answer for.
Heard a phone caller into radio Manchester after the Huddersfield game saying he was worried about the takeover and the future.
I slated him saying he was being negative however he was bang on the money with his fears.
Future very very uncertain for football in general , when does the new season start?
Can fans enter the ground ?
Season tickets ?
Hospitality?
Tv ?
No fans , no money , no wages spells disaster!Tip of the iceberg this for me, many more clubs to follow especially when the furlough starts to be scaled back next month.
