Will it be of any advantage to the Latics; in that Burnley will struggle from here on in and the rescue job is too big for Bolton ? Or am I wishful thinking ?
5 January 2010 at 8:28 pm #17242I think Burnley were doomed with OC in charge or not. I sit right behind the away dug out at the DW and can usually judge how good a team is by whats sat on the bench. Although they’ve not been to the DW yet I know I’m going to see a load of dross when they do. That will also coincide with suspensions and injuries to shall we say ” the better players”.
Every year we see the same thing happening to these type of clubs and that included us a few years back.Last year when Hull were riding high during the first part of the season I tried to bet my mate that they would be struggling with relegation and that we would finish higher, the same fete will happen to Birmingham.
Wolves are also doomed. ;)From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!5 January 2010 at 8:31 pm #17244Not sure. Although it could condemn Burnley it is likely to strengthen the other relegation candidates Bolton. Guess we have to concentrate on ourselves anyway, too early for me to be checking other team’s scores.
Good use of the semi colon by the way. I think standards on this board have slipped. Bring back national service.
5 January 2010 at 9:24 pm #17248I think it could do them both harm.
Owen Coyle tends to like to play football, and I don’t think the bunch of cloggers he taking over will be able to adapt to the different style he will bring in time to save their season.
As for the dingles, the shock of their mentor leaving for local rivals, and the possibility of upsetting the apple cart by taking players and coaches with him will not bode well for them.
It may just be wishful thinking but I think they both may be troubled by this move.
5 January 2010 at 9:44 pm #17254think jewell may be next dingle boss cant see who else they would get
5 January 2010 at 10:03 pm #17263I think Bolton will beat Sunderland on saturday & might get there 1st clean sheet all season, but you never know ……….
5 January 2010 at 10:36 pm #17267Think Coyle going means Burnley are almost certain to go down…as for the job he’ll do in Horwich I’m not sure, he hasnt got long to assess the squad before the window closes and their style of play will take some changes. Can’t believe he’s gone there mind, a sideways move if ever there was one.
5 January 2010 at 11:18 pm #17276I think Bolton will beat Sunderland on saturday & might get there 1st clean sheet all season, but you never know ……….What on earth makes you think that?
A team full of cloggers, possibly managed by a bloke whose previous side picked up just 1 point out of 30 from their away games so far, against a side who have only lost at home to Chelsea and Villa, and have already beaten Liverpool & Arsenal.
5 January 2010 at 11:34 pm #17277Maybe the fact Sunderland are overrated and think they are a big club!

New Manager always sparks a response early on.

Sunderland are on a real bad run at the moment & Bolton have a fresh new start with a new manager, all the players want to impress.
6 January 2010 at 2:11 pm #17321“I sit right behind the away dug out at the DW and can usually judge how good a team is by whats sat on the bench”
using that criteria, God only knows what you make of Latics chances of avoiding relegation this season!!!
8 January 2010 at 2:34 pm #17558Strange move by Coyle in my view. He’s made a good rep for himself at Burnley. If he’d kept Burnley up, he could have held out for a bigger club, and even if they go down he’ll still be well thought of. I know he’s got links with Bolton, but seems at best a sideways step.
Reminds me of Jewells ill advised move to Derby – he’d got his reputation from taking Bradford and us up and keeping us there – should have waited for a better club.
8 January 2010 at 5:23 pm #17580I have to agree with everything Horc says
they’ll both in deep do-do happily for us
i know they dont want my sympathy but i cannot help but feel sorry for burnley. well for the fans at least
