As a change from the usual bickering and bad vibes, where are you going to for your holidays? We like to try somewhere different each year and so this year finds us opting for Antalya Turkey.I will also be jetting out to Austin Texas for a week with my brother and some mates for a week of psychedelic music and high jinx !
Any thoughts or tips on Antalya would be gratefully received ! B)11 January 2013 at 2:26 pm #99733As a change from the usual bickering and bad vibes, where are you going to for your holidays? Any thoughts or tips on Antalya would be gratefully received ! B)Antalya looks nice but doesn’t it bother you that there is no Beach etc?? Wouldn’t bother me but I know some people just love to spend more or less all day there :)
Last year I went to Tunisia (Royal Kenz Hotel in Port El Kantoui) which was really nice (Providing you stay within your resort and tourist areas) Hotel was quality, to be honest all Hotels there look really nice .. This year I am wanting to go to Egypt or somewhere else that I have not yet been.. But with moving properties and what not I may just opt for a week all inclusive in Malta B)

Oh I went to Marmaris and was speaking to a Turkish guy from Antalya and he was telling us that it doesn’t!
Yeah our Hotel also had its own stretch of beach which also had an All Inclusive beach bar and food place so we had no issues spending the day there either!
Was also very good for price of everything more or less! We went for a meal in Sousse in a ‘Texas themed’ place.. Got the biggest Steak I have ever seen, plenty drinks and what not and it was cheaper than you could imagine! Only issue we had was when we left our resort to find some more local bars/clubs (After All Inclusive hotel bar closed) and it just looked deserted, we found one very nice looking Bar and decided to get a drink or 2.. We were the only English people in sight and I dont think the people there appreciated us being there, also we got one drink each and it came to more than the Meal we had including drinks etc in total!! :ohmy:11 January 2013 at 3:05 pm #99737Anonymous
Nothing as unusual for me, Tenerife for 10 days in February. Only reason for this choice is that I know somebody living out there so it is a nice cheap getaway. Looking forward to seeing what the carnival there is all about. Apparently it is the second biggest in the world, after Rio. The strangest bit (appart from the cross-dressing elements) has to be the finale. To signify the end of the carnival, a ritual known as ‘The Burial of the Sardine’ takes place. Looking forward to that one! :S
11 January 2013 at 4:54 pm #99742Thailand for me, but I’m travelling with the wife and kids so the only pingpong balls I’ll see are ones people are playing table tennis with.
12 January 2013 at 12:03 am #99777not been away for the last four or five years where me and my better half went to cyprus. realy enjoyed it, stayed in protaras, lively enough but without the nobheads of ayia napa. going to tenerief this year with eight of the family, ready for it to be honest.
12 January 2013 at 12:21 am #99781Going Magaluff on jolly boys outing for 5 days in may when we play Arsenal away.about 50 tics fans going at the last count.bring it on :) then two weeks with wife and kids in Florida :)
12 January 2013 at 2:55 pm #99808My holiday usually ties in with Wigan playing Catalans away and I head to Southern France for a week.
This year though I’m taking the Mrs to New York in November for her birthday. 4 nights from Weds-Sun with the Thursday being thanksgiving so we get to see the parade. Probably head to places like Ground Zero, Empire State, Madison Square Garden, Statue of Liberty and the fake Central Park (;-)). Really looking forward to it.
Ps – if anyone has been and knows any interesting places to go then pm me please?
12 January 2013 at 3:01 pm #99810I’ve gone mad with travel this year.
India in nine days time (mix of work and pleasure).
A week in France in Feb half term (skiing) with family.
A week in the US in April (again work mixed with a few days for myself).
Cottage in Devon during May half term with family and in laws.
Not quite a holiday, but 5 days at Glastonbury at the end of June and 3 days at Silverstone for the F1 in July.Oh yeah, and Fulham this afternoon.
Still undecided on summer hols, but quite fancy Thailand, or Japan if I’m not bankrupt by then.
There’s an outside chance I might be going to Hawaii in September (work and pleasure again).
I definitely will not be going to Antalya. I love Turkey and have been to various places there, but the fortnight me and my wife had there twenty years ago is the worst holiday we’ve ever been on. Hope it’s got better for you.

Most of the big trips are really work with a couple of days tagged on to the start or end.
