No one talking about the game, or are we all too shocked at having won at last? :S
Well Reira’s off the mark at last. Took it well. Didn’t seem to want to go off though, what was that about?
How many chances did we miss?…I lost count after 10.
Callum looking sharper. Fortune held it up well eg winning the corner just before close of play.
I’ve heard on the GV that Uwe is so worried about the players’ inability to score he’s taking them to a brothel next week. Can anyone recommend a suitable venue?
The ale prices have increased 20p as well. 6.25% increase. Well above inflation….bloody rubbish Wigan.
24 August 2014 at 12:02 am #133039Go on then leyland i’ll post a comment.
Thought we looked good today & some good individual performances albeit against a poor side i admit, but created enough chances to score 5, 6 or even more. Personally i thought riera not wanting to come off was a good sign that he wanted to stay on & try to score more. Took his goal well btw.
Good to get our first 3 points today. MOM for me, probably perch though i was also impressed with ramis, mcarthur & huws.
Still need another goal scoring striker & midfielder.
24 August 2014 at 12:18 am #133041I heard powell and forshaw will sign next week and maloney off to everton

mainly due to griff
24 August 2014 at 5:21 am #133053We seem to be going through an apathy period all round. Home crowds seem to be well down on last season. It looked very sparse today.
Looked a little more like Latics from Herr Swapenchanges winning period last year ie winning but making a bit of hard work of it. Enjoyed Callum having a free role but couldn’t get my head round the substitutions at all but it wouldn’t be Rosler if he didn’t swap and change things around but great that’s the first win and another three points next week unless theres more swapping and changing.
Well done Callum Mc. What an amazing player but lucky not to have any broken bones today.24 August 2014 at 7:12 am #133054I thought it was a pretty shite game today but I am drunk! We should have been about 4-0 up at halftime and the second half was shite because their manager made some basic changes that any half decent manager would have had in place to start with ! We struggled against a side that looks doomed so early on in the season! Positives….The new lad scored Negatives……Plenty! We will struggle against half decent sides and the better ones will tear us apart ( No don’t! )
24 August 2014 at 11:47 am #133055I don’t buy anything at the ground (just suffer that appalling half time ‘ entertainment’) so don’t moan about prices if you are prepared to pay them.
As for the game well yes we picked up three points but there seemed a flat atmosphere about the place from both sets of supporters which was disappointing and that seemed to pass to the players because the game is one of the worst I have seen for a good few years.
callum played well and I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets some interest before the window closes but we again failed to take scores of chances and nearly let the back in near the end.
we also seem to have lost 3 or 4000 ‘ supporters’ particularly from the children’s stand which is extremely worrying and could mean we have some very tough times ahead.24 August 2014 at 1:58 pm #133059Expect less and less people attending if Rosler carries on taking off his best 2 chances of goals being scored with 20 mins to go.
What is he thinking off taking Riera and Cal off at 1-0? Neither looked knacked or injured. To persevere with Fortune is ridiculous.
For me he needs the 2 lads on the pitch and to find a way to accommodate Waghorn at the same time. Waghorn can do Rieras running and both can score goals. It seems obvious to me but I’m not the manager. At the same time we need to be finding someone to replace Boozy on the left to balance the attacking threat. Perch tries his best but I worry about him getting caught out.
24 August 2014 at 2:14 pm #133062Well said Tez. Waghorn could easily be fit in with Cal and Golden Oriol.
24 August 2014 at 3:02 pm #133066time for change ive said it for a while , too many now are fed up with whats going on at the club
ok whelan does not have to fork out his own wealth and we do have to sell to survive
but its catching up now
average players poor games thats why fans have had enough writing was on the wall
maybe 4 years ago we had close to 20,000 ok counting away fans but instead of going forward we went backwards instead of strenghening we weakened the team year in year out
now we are seeing the fruits of this
those youngsters who used to go in south stand are now probably back surporting man utd liverpool city and so on
where do we go from here….. i think its too late damage is done
smaller ground required very soon24 August 2014 at 3:39 pm #133067All this moaning about crowds when we went up to the prem we averaged 11500 in the championship and had a great season so i think the crowds are about right at the moment we averaged more last season because everyone thought we would walk straight back to the prem
24 August 2014 at 4:08 pm #133068The likes of fulham have lost 6 – 8000 fans since dropping to the championship, we by my reckoning have lost a couple of thousand since last season. But anyone remember our first season i think in the championship years ago versus palace & we only drew in 6,500.
We seem to have that hardcore of 12000 still. I dont know what yesterdays crowd was, but why the doom & gloom i dont know. Doom & gloom was around 93-94 & we averaged crowds of 1200, which i feel proud to say that i was there during our darkest period in all my 36 years of watching wigan when that was a sh1t team & manager.
We have got off to a slow start admittedly, many teams do & we will hit bad patches throughout the season, again, many teams do. & the talk about replacing good players with average. Remember what league we are in. We cant attract certain players now. We are in the championship & can only attract players from that league or lower or risk a foreign import.
It could be worse. We could support fulham who spent £11 million on just one striker & who got tonked yesterday. They probably thought they could come to this division & walk it. They are finding & hopefully to a great cost, it dosen’t work like that. & if they don’t go up, it is they more than ourselves who will discover the cost of failing to get to the premiership.
24 August 2014 at 10:55 pm #133069thought the gate yesterday was poor, expected it to be a couple of thousand up on the reading game given the opposition but we seem to have lost about 1500 on that game given the away following. dont know what the answer is apart from being in the top six and playing well. that doesn’t seem likely going off yesterdays performance, alot of people around me starting to worry already.
25 August 2014 at 6:55 pm #133078Looks like forshaw is signing with a deal accepted next in powell
