27 September 2009 at 11:15 pm #9860Look at it like this.
Which team got the most coverage this weekend?
Latics by a country mile. No question. All over the papers, highlights on Match Of The Day, the FULL MATCH chosen as the replayed game screened on Sky…..and there you go.
Wigan Athletic will have been talked about in Spain, Holland, Germany….and even further afield this weekend. And you know what? That makes me bloody proud.
So, frankly, whatever a s*itty little ‘chip paper’ publication that is so far up the rugby’s arse does is highly irrellevant. However, I won’t begrudge the rugby having a bit of coverage there. Afterall, they need it. We’ll enjoy the adulation of the WORLD press instead.
World sport, you see.
27 September 2009 at 11:19 pm #9863Yes of course it will, why should Wigan Athletic beating one of the best teams in the world in the biggest sport in the world playing in the best league in the world possibly compare to a little club in a minority sport. Having said that, how do we compare attendance wise I hear you say.
Well last week v Castleford at the DW, the attendance was a mighty 8689, so only 10,000 behind us. The old egg chasing is creating some serious interest in the town alright. :shock:28 September 2009 at 12:57 am #9876On MOTD I noticed there was advertising on the East Stand in Vietnamese and Thai. (Didn’t see it at the match cos I sit in that stand)
That’s how far we are being watched.

28 September 2009 at 2:48 pm #9898Just bought the Post, Latics and Worriers share front page top right with Latics result on top but we have the main feature on the back page.
Don’t know about anybody else but I’ve read every available column inch and watched every minute of coverage I could on Saturday’s win.28 September 2009 at 3:20 pm #9901I’ve watched football first 6 times over the weekend and still cannot believe it

Oh, I haven’t forgot! It’s just that it’s a minority sport, and it doesn’t interest me.
I don’t give two sh*ts about them, being honest.
