So with a fair few out of contract who do you think will Rosler keep and let go ?. Next season will be Rosler’s team and for me shall be judged on that.
13 May 2014 at 12:52 pm #131009Keep hold of McArthur and Gomez and build a team around them.

13 May 2014 at 1:22 pm #131014I think on another Latics website that Gomez has given an interview where he intimated that he was gonna sign a new deal if we got promted but not if we didn’t (I haven’t read it myself but that’s what has been posted about it), so he’ll be off.
Beausejour has by all accounts refused to even discuss a new deal, so he’ll be off too.
I wouldn’t imagine that Crainey will be offered a new deal so he’ll be off
I think Boyce & Caldwell are out of contract but presume they will be offered new deals – whether they’ll want them or not is another matter but I can’t see top flight clubs wanting themOf the players in contract I think we’ll get bids for:
Ramis
McArthur
Maloney
McManaman
We’ll do well to keep hold of the 4 of themGod knows what they’re gonna do with Grant Holt
13 May 2014 at 2:24 pm #131022Go,Ramis
Boozyjoe
Holt(if anybody will have him)
Habsi
Gomez
Can’t really see anyone else going except fringe players who have not played a lot.
Or players who get big or good offers from other clubs and Whelan grabs the money.13 May 2014 at 2:34 pm #131023McArthur has shown great responsibility under Rosler.
Everton will have to pay £2.5 million to sign Barry permanently, so he is likely to go elsewhere.
I’d say McArthur is likely to resume his midfield partnership with McCarthy.

Not saying McArthur won’t go to em but £2.5mill is not beyond the budget of Everton if that is the asking price
13 May 2014 at 2:53 pm #131026For a £2.5m transfer fee and £4m on wages of £80k/week we could afford him – gerrim signed ;)
13 May 2014 at 3:00 pm #131030Our main priority HAS to be a striker.
Rhodes would be top of my shopping list but I think he will go to a Premier League side if he leaves Blackburn, so I would be looking at players such as Nakhi Wells and James Vaughan at Huddersfield who have scored goals in a poor side or maybe go back for Ross McCormack at Leeds who again has scored goals in a poor side.
After that we just need to tinker with what we have (unless we lose players of course) and I would hope to have McArthur and Gomez in the midfield with the likes of Watson, McCann, Waghorn, McClean built around them.
Defensively I think we will cope well with Perch, Kiernan, Barnett and Boyce but will obviously have to add to it if Ramis and Caldwell leave.
Carson and Nicholls in goal are fine also.
13 May 2014 at 3:42 pm #131035Not saying McArthur won’t go to em but £2.5mill is not beyond the budget of Everton if that is the asking priceIf Everton sign Barry, under the terms of the loan contract, they will have to pay City £2.5 million, which they could indeed afford.
But if another club signs Barry, it will be on a free transfer, in which case Barry will be likely to get the £2.5 million himself in higher wages.
So, although he has had a good season, Barry is likely to be attracted to another club. McArthur is obviously a possible replacement.

How does that work if he is out of contract at the end of the season? I can understand Everton paying a loan fee while he was there but why would Everton agree to pay £2.5m when he will be a free agent? Not saying it’s wrong, but it seems a strange arrangement.
13 May 2014 at 5:11 pm #131042It’s apparently a condition of the loan contract taken out this season.
Martinez insists he is hopeful of signing Barry on a permanent deal but realises his club are at a disadvantage because of a clause written into the loan agreement when the 33-year-old joined them last August.
It states that City will be due the backdated fee if he does complete the move to Everton.
Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham and Tottenham, who are also interested, would not have to pay the Premier League title favourites anything, meaning they can offer Barry much better personal terms.

Tend to agree with you on that !
Plus, hope we don’t sign any of our loan players; they’ve not met expectations imo.

Fair enough, it’s a new one one me
13 May 2014 at 10:29 pm #131076Also , who’s worth taking a look at ?
I like the look of Britt Assombalonga, 65 goals in 131 games , 22 yr old and if Peterbro don’t go up might be up for sale. Lets see how he goes against Orient tonight.
