Talking to a Blackpool season ticket holder at work he says Holloway is all out attack with no clue about defending, would Graham Jones be tempted as he knows the Martinez way, (Chris Hutchings, not a good choice) Phelan would have great contacts. For me the best person we could get would be Glenn Hoddle but I don’t think we would have a chance of getting him, he certainly would play on the floor football.
Any thoughts?

The two stand outs are Holloway and Phelan -logic says Holloway however Phelan was no ordinary number 2 given the work he did at utd and after some thought would me my choice.
I still think we can sneak in the play offs so the appointment has to be a good one and results need to be immediate .4 December 2013 at 12:43 pm #124342I would like us to make Steve Pressley our next manager currently at Coventry but under dire circumstances producing a team that plays good football and appear to have great team spirit,,

It won’t happen, but on paper he looks like an ideal replacement to carry on where Martinez left off.
4 December 2013 at 3:33 pm #124349My choice would be Phelan, he had a lot to do with what went on on the Utd training pitch and they didn’t do to bad did they. If Phelan could persuade Scholes to jump on board as well till the end of the season then I’m pretty sure a play-off place would be achievable.
Scholes is down to earth character, the type Whelan likes, not the outspoken type like Holloway. You know exactly what you get with Holloway on the pitch and I don’t think my ticker could take gun-ho tactics till the end of the season.
4 December 2013 at 11:18 pm #124368Mark Robins ?? Given the relegation threatened rabble we beat in the FA Cup last season, he now looks to be turning them into a good side ( and one that won at Bolton last night which is no bad thing)
5 December 2013 at 2:00 am #124378Ian Holloway.
I laughed at the though of him replacing Martinez but 6 months under Coyle really puts things in to perspective. For all of Holloways supposed short comings he plays attacking entertaining football and I would rather lose and play good football than win watching pub team football.
Plus I think he would genuinely want the job rather than seeing it as a stop gap/stepping stone.

I rang Mark when I saw this (I have known him for over 20 years fishing in Ireland) he said he would be up for it, but he said he wants his management partner Mark Addy (who isn’t answering his texts), Joe Roberts and Tommy Pickering as part of his coaching set up.
They may not win any football matches but the international 5 minute pre-baiting rule will go down a treat on here.

If you mean Rosler surely this would mean compensation & contracts ?. At this stage of the season I very much doubt DW will dip into his pocket to pay for that.

5 December 2013 at 7:28 pm #124405Holloway has shown that he can succeed in the Championship but hasn’t really had much chance to develop his teams in the Premier League.
His teams have been attack-minded, but there may well be more than that to him.
Phelan has been successful at the higher level, though we don’t know exactly what responsibility he took. He also worked with much greater resources. On balance, I think that I’ll go for him.
