Reading through the ‘other sports’ section of rlfans I came across this comment:
It was good to see the excitement before kick off at a football game again. It reminds me why teams like Leeds should be in the Premier League ahead of your Wigan’s and Pompey’s.My response:
Well they aren’t are they? Unfortunately football doesn’t work on how many fans you have or how exciting the pre-match is. It goes on what you do on the pitch.
This year we have been poor in games i’ll admit (utd, spurs, pompey), but we have been equally good in games as well (villa, chelsea, burnley – who have all beaten you this season but not us btw). We’re in this league because our football has been good enough to get us here and then keep us here. Leeds (we outclassed them both times we played them in the league btw) are where they are because they have been shite (as are Newcastle, Norwich, Southampton and many other ‘big’ clubs.
Don’t like it – go and watch a sport where your crowds and ‘fan excitement’ counts

The writer is demonstrating that he/she clearly knows jack about football, hence why he/she is posting on a rugby forum.
Although they have no money and a tatty old ground, the atmosphere at Fratton Park is one of the best in the Premier League.
In football you get in the top division on merit, not on a committee vote –unlike in some other sports.
