i remember getting the train to leeds with a couple of mates 35 + years ago to get a crombie -not the cheap version sold in countdown or slaters -an original one that toffs and bankers with bowler hats wore from the proper manufacturers, cost me 40 quid if i remember , i had a summer holiday job in dave whelans supermarket on the old market square to pay for it.

im amazed they are still going.

LMB, you are clearly a man of style as I didn’t even know how to spell the bloody word correctly!

That’s heck of a lot of money for a jacket. I’m sure if you wanted protection from the elements, you could get a house in certain areas of Wigan for that in the 70s.

Dads? Huh, they have no style. At what age do your kids start/have started to think that?

Crikey! Proper toff you were chap; here was me thinking I looked the ‘dogs’ with my ‘Slaters special’ proudly displaying the Red Rose. Hey Ho! At least, on reflection, it was better than my ‘Harrington’ – ‘fraid I was an EBS (Electric Blue Parallels), Ben Sherman and leather soled brogue shoe (for dancing) type of guy. Happy days eh?

      8-)
